The better (and size can play a part here) your forwards are the more you will win the ruck, the more momentum you'll have, the more room (and time) the halves will have to run, pass, kick, plan, organise. If this (and hopefuĺly it does) translates into tries (or even penalty goals) then you get more possession. With more possession, momentum and confidence, comes less pressure; therefor increasing the liklihood of more discipline, fewer penalties conceded, fewer mistakes overall. It's very difficult to be disciplined, hang on to the ball, have a good kicking game and make sound decisions when you are constantly on the back foot and under continued pressùre.
This is all true but we managed it last year by playing to our strengths in the middle (hard work and mobility) and staying disciplined.

I would have thought Minimizing errors, good defence, a good kicking game among other things have a fair bearing on having better possession stats. That’s not to say you are wrong about the forwards but they are only 1 small part of many other parts that add up to better possession stats.

Good teams force errors with the pressure they put on you.
Bone rattling forwards force errors by hitting you hard and wearing you out.

Yeah real comparable to what Des was doing

We have spare coin why wouldn’t we front some players we are happy to keep long term???

How is that comparable to what Des did at the Dogs??
Actually back loading contracts is causing all the problems.

NRL.com's compiled stats have been dumbed down to the point even Glenneel could read them. You would have to go some where with a solid catalogue of individual games stats and add them up.
Pou you're the stats man and I couldn't be bothered most of the time. I go on what I see and the results. As you know full well stats can be skewed to fit any argument you want, like Mannah's the best prop in NRL as each carry he does is over 10 metres. Correct stat wrong conclusion but if you didn't see the games you wouldn't know..

Serious question - did you actually want us to sign Glasby?
Think he'd be better than most of our current middle forwards, certainly better Vave, Matagi, Terepo, Evans and Mannah (any others I left out?). Gee we are poor when our best forward is Alvaro, an honest toiler but he won't win you anything.

No they can't.
like Mannah's the best prop in NRL as each carry he does is over 10 metres.
The stats show he doesn't break enough tackles (or make enough runs) to be the best prop in the NRL. According to the stats Taumalolo is the best - he not only averages 10m per carry but the stats show he makes at least 15 runs and five tackle breaks pretty much every week. You can also see he is the best just by watching him, but as always, the stats back this up too.

Mannah has made just two tackle breaks in the past three weeks, but his metres per carry and tackles per minute show he is a very reliable first grader. He would be top 17 at any club in the NRL.
Correct stat wrong conclusion but if you didn't see the games you wouldn't know..
Actually you would, provided you know how to read the stats.

And yet you want to sign a worse "honest toiler" and reckon he'd be better than our pack?

Glasby averages a whopping 68m a game at 8m a run. He breaks f**k all tackles and he's not even a good defender....yeah, that'll improve our pack.

He's a bigger plodder than Plod Packer

Glasby is no better than Mannah. He just plays with superior team mates.

I'd say Glasby is objectively worse than Mannah, at the moment. He makes f**k all metres or tackles, the only area he's superior is tackle breaks, but even then he's had 12 in 8 games so it's barely worth mentioning.
