I'm hearing he's signed, sealed, delivered at Broncos.
Don't box it in just yet Pou.

Wouldn't the extension and restructuring of a contracted player be more about securing the player for longer and or higher cost (i.e. alerting the terms of the contract). He wrote on tweet in which he used the word 'prepay' and didn't mention 400k or anything like it.
If you can simply pay someone 400k of next years contract and have that removed from next year's cap, then clubs who have extended and re-structured contracts needn't have bothered.
Good point. Australia Post are known to send parcels to the wrong address.Don't box it in just yet Pou.

My suggestion was to do with altering when payments are made, i.e. paying in advance, for an existing contract, not changing contract terms per se.
As I understand it, a club cannot have under contract at the one time, more than 30 players whose total contracted value exceeds the cap. Additionally, they cannot pay more than the total cap limit to players in any one year/season.
If as Gould has indicated, cutting a player allows prepayment of the following year (in part at least) for another player, then I cannot see how either of these conditions are breached. A bit like an employer giving an employee an interest free loan/ salary advance really.
The issue is the cap treatment by the NRL. Gould appears to be indicating they allow it, or maybe he is only referring to front loading a new contract for an expiring one, who knows? It's Yanni/Laurel all over againThere's no problem with a club advancing wages per se. The issue is the cap treatment, and it's not the current year cap treatment that is in question. It is the subsequent year cap treatment that is the (potential) problem. What is the contracted value of Player X in 2019? Pre-paying his contracted salary doesn't change that contracted value.

So when we get rid of Norman we can use all that money to pay some of Mannah's enormous 2019 salary under this year's cap?
