I think the main difference between the two is Dufty is a tougher player and is prepared to put his body on the line, engage the line at speed and get belted if need be. French seems hesitant to me. I also think French’s playmaking is a bit overrated.

I think if you swapped our pack for theirs you would see a different attitude and ability level from all our current backs.

What wouId you say if this is the scenario, Norman is going, BA is negotiating with a very good forward like Taupau but he realises he needs another half with NRL experience but can’t afford another in the Norman price if we sign Taupau. Plus we need to increase our offer slightly for Taupau.

Lamb is then offered to the eels for a very decent price. BA thinks lamb is an ok option for 2 years (but not the perfect option but Taupau will offset any negatives ) as he thinks he can get some good improvement in him. It also gives him time to ease Brown / salmon into the NRL.

So we sign Lamb and now have the cash for Taupau.

It also frees up some cash having a cheaper half option to spend on a hooker.

There are so many variables to consider.

I think even if we do not sign anyone and keep same squad we can go into 2019 optimistic of top 5 finish.
Few additions will be good. After last night performance to me its clear the coach or atleast coaching staff need.a freshen up.

Well, for starters, I paint the picture that most other clubs are better then us because we are stone motherless last a-f**kin-gen!!!

As for payment amounts? The reason I posted those very figures for Woods is because it was widely reported at least in the television media that that is exactly what the offer to Woods from the Sharks was and that is why it was reported that the negotiations from the Dogs side had stalled, because it made no economical sense to the Dogs to let Woods go at that price.

They needed genuine Salary relief, not just to be hijacked by the Sharks and their lowball offfer. Then at the last hour, Woods took it upon himself to forgo $200k off his conTract with the Dogs to get them to agree for the trade to happen. So therefore the Sharks have gotten a marquee player at a steal of a deal price.

But I reckon, my opinion only is that if we came in much earlier when the negotiating was at its start or peak and offered anywhere around that $550k mark we would have gotten him.

As for Taupau, they are the figures that are being bandied around at this stage, but I'm sure we will get a much clearer picture if anything were to actually transpire.

We have severely under-performed this year, though, so 16th isn't a reflection of our ability as much as a reflection of our performance.

I had us 6th this year, I see no reason why we can't finish thereabouts next year IF we perform to our ability, which we haven't even been close to this year.

I'd say our side next year is at least slightly better than the side we had last year, although I'm still concerned about the 9 jersey.

I wanted Taupau 3 or 4 years ago, no actually I wanted him when he was in the lower grade at Canturbery. Now he is a major risk. Big price tag that can easily go wrong.

He's another Cameron King IMO. Good enough bit part player but maybe not what you want in NRL week to week without a quality hooker alongside him
