That's kind of what I was getting at. He's part of the coaching staff in the organisation now right, at Wenty? Just promote him to NRL coach if 2019 is going tits up, let him see out 2019 and unless he's a complete retatd that makes BA look like Jack Gibson, leave him there for 2020 and 2021
Why is everyone obsessed with who the coach is? The coach has not been the problem with the Eels since before Brian Smith left. The problem with the Eels is the players and not just their culture, but their attitude to the team as a whole. Do you honestly look back over the last few years and believe that the Eels players care about the team itself, never alone the city of Parramatta or it's citizens? I say this because you can tell there is a distinct lack of effort in the games when they are trailing. It's one thing to know that you are bested by an opponent, it's another entirely to switch off physically and mentally when Eels fans spend their hard earned money to funnel into your salary. How many Eels players at the moment make you go: "WOW, I love that guy and how much effort he puts in to his performances! It's like he actually cares about my experience as a fan!"
How many Eels players do you honestly think care about Parramatta or the Eels? I'd say next to zero, maybe Hayne, but honestly who knows anymore. The situation is bleak, we need more passionate players that care about the team and the city. There is no emotional attachment, it's like they are puppets going through the motions for the $$$ and the fame but not even willing to put up the pretense that they care about "Parramatta". You could say this is true of most professional sports where the players chop and change but this is incorrect, you don't have to be born and bred in a system to have an attachment to a team. It's very telling that Eels players will jump at the chance of being shopped out to other teams, regardless of whether they deserve to be moved on or not.
Have a look at Melbourne over the last decade. Do you think the players care about the city, the team, the fans and each other and put in even when they are no longer in the fight? I'd say even in the A-League where there are even more player changes, the shit teams have players that you can tell are trying even if they are getting belted and have some form of respect for the jersey they are in.
Arthur's main downfall is not being able to ignite some kind of pride in PARRAMATTA from the players, but he wouldn't be the first coach. That and holding onto "veterans" that would not get a start anywhere else. The Eels team of 2001 didn't need many "senior players".
