Give the bloke a go before you crucify him!!!!!
He's an unknown Gower with hair.I think Davey is a strange signing, wasn’t Dane Aukafolau playing on the edge towards the end of the year ? And from reports showing potential there?
Tell us your thoughts, Pete. Would you consider Davey as an astute signing? I liken it to the council having to spend their budget or risk having it cut. Very strange.......Give the bloke a go before you crucify him!!!!!
If you’re going to star in any grade you’ll do it at your peak. Why would you think a 27 year old who hasn’t played NRL is going to be worse than a 21 year old who hasn’t played NRL? At least the 27 year old has experience against grown men in reserve grade (including some NRL players).Starring in a QLD comp as a 27yo? You didn't even know the difference between him and a corroboree frog until he was signed up. The QLD ISC winners got flogged like a convict by the Bulldogs and he was nowhere near that team. Smoking cane most likely.

LOL. You haven't lost your touch Pou. The Eels pluck some ageing unknown from obscurity who will most likely play reserves unless the six options in front of him are injured. That doesn't sound like a plan for the future to me. Have you seen him? Junior could inhale him. It's even worse if those dollars used to sign him restrict our ability to give Hayne another season. To me, he's an average signing at best.If you’re going to star in any grade you’ll do it at your peak. And the reason the QLD Cup teams get smashed is because there are fewer NRL teams using it to field their backups, meaning there are fewer NRL contracted players in those teams.
But if a bloke is playing to a high enough standard in reserve grade then he should be picked up by an NRL club. He was outplaying other blokes from the bottom end of the Broncos/Cowboys/Titans/Storm top 30 squads. If they have NRL contracts why shouldn’t he?
He'll have some mates before a ball is kicked over the sideline on the full. He’s the 2019 scapegoat in 2018. Exactly one day after preseason training has started.
A minimum salary player wont harm any prospects of signing hayneLOL. You haven't lost your touch Pou. No worries mate. But if anyone can say he's an astute signing or even a good signing that will help us move forward then enlighten me. If not, then it's more money pissed up against the wall.A minimum salary player wont harm any prospects of signing hayne
Minimum salary guys make it possible for the greedy ones to get rich
Ageing? He is 27. Peak age for a rugby league player, regardless of how good they are.LOL. You haven't lost your touch Pou. The Eels pluck some ageing unknown from obscurity who will most likely play reserves unless the six options in front of him are injured.
The fact it’s a one year contract should have tipped you off. That doesn't sound like a plan for the future to me.
The dollars used to sign him need to be spent on an NRL backup. And plenty of signings are worse than average.Have you seen him? Junior could inhale him. It's even worse if those dollars used to sign him restrict our ability to give Hayne another season. To me, he's an average signing at nest.
Well, we won that lottery! BTW, I consider 27 to be old in NRL player terms when you're a noob.Ageing? He is 27. Peak age for a rugby league player, regardless of how good they are.

I've had my say so I'll leave it at that. He can take solace in the fact that I rarely know what I'm talking about.I like to see an underdog given a go. If he really has put on 7kg then he might be the type who was in need of a full-time contract before he could reach his potential. And he's tall isn't he? Anyway, not expecting great things but he's minimum wage, and I doubt we'd have got much better with someone else. It's the expensive guys you need to be selective about.
All good mate, neither do I. And it's a fan forum, so if we can't give our opinions on the team then it would be pretty boring.I've had my say so I'll leave it at that. He can take solace in the fact that I rarely know what I'm talking about.
Lol my guess is as good as yoursWhy sign a 27yo unknown from the middle of God's country when it may impede the signing of God?
You have to sign 30 players ffs. On at least minimum salary. You can't only sign 20 and spend the savings on your favourite player. No worries mate. But if anyone can say he's an astute signing or even a good signing that will help us move forward then enlighten me. If not, then it's more money pissed up against the wall.
Who's talking him up ffs? I'm just countering the usual death riding bullshit we get around here. If merkins weren't in such a hurry to put shit on the signing I would never have mentioned it.LOL only Pou would talk up a signing of a bloke he has never seen play.
