Rumours and Stuff

When you compare players of different eras you have to imagine the same training regimes, otherwise it's a pointless exercise. If Ken Thornett was a full-time professional and had the luxury of today's training methods, supplements, diets and treatments for injuries, etc, he'd be every bit as good as Hayne. Only difference is that Thornett was way more consistent than Hayne.
Thornett probably had more manners when dealing with the fairer sex too, allegedly.

Disappointed to miss out on Napa, although it sounds like we couldn’t afford him. Think he would’ve been an ideal fit for us.

Perhaps. But there was no Twitter, Facebook, mobile phones and other forms of social media in his day. If Thorneťt wanted to hook up with a young lady, he would have used a public phone box or written her a letter. And if she'd taken photos of any injuries, it would have been with a box brownie. (Or, more likely in those days, she would have told nobody.) Different times, different social issues.

do you reckon those photos would have been developed back then ? you most likely would have got a knock on the door from the cops

Given The Clubs recent performances its easy to find fault. We have pretty much looked amateurish.
I will say however that the recent "Whole Club Training Day" is a positive step in my opinion. It is actual evidence of actions taken resulting from The Review as communicated to fans.
Be it Mark O'Neill or Bernie or a combination I say well done. Its a great start. An interesting comment from Bernie saying that "Brad Arthur is on board".

I don’t think it’s meant in a bad way. Gurr has said we want to be a development club (as per the review outcome), so to do that you really need the head coach to support that approach. You hear stories where the head coach isn’t that interested in the juniors.

BA even before the recent changes appeared to have been interested in the juniors and their pathways to the NRL side (for example attendance at junior matches and the promotion of juniors through the teams and pushing them at a younger age).

Thus Gurr was just stating BA was on board which we really already knew anyway.
