Where did you get the info on it only being an option for 2020?

Poster on the Warriors forum (extremely reliable) said that was the case and couple days later it showed up in a nzherald article.

Grain of salt, third hand info etc, but it seems like the Warriors feel like thos is the case and if they can sign him for 2020 the Eels might give in because why bother developing him? (pure theory on my part, it's a tactic clubs use that I personally hate.)

Was told by an equally reliable source that Brown has no option it's a contract, and the Eels expect to extend him . Not sure here why you would think they would give up on a player that has lived here for 3 years, and has come through the system with the other players now breaking into grade.

Interesting that with all the resources avaiable in NZ that you need to raid elsewhere. Given that you have Brian Smith, the " I can sign anyone for the Roosters etc", O'Sullivan And Nathan Cayless at the club, we can expect raids like this, but says little for the juniors and encouraging those already in the Warriors system

Lol. Nice defensive whinge about nothing.

I said they might give up on him in the context of IF he was signed elsewhere a year out they might release him early. It's a common tactic clubs use.

That last paragraph. lol. It says one thing and one thing only, that they think Brown is a good player worth looking into. Feel free to make spiteful digs if you wish. Didn't come here to argue about whether he's signing or not, just to find out who the hell he is.

Whatever happens, happens.

I thought I read the warriors have a few talented young halves already. SJ is an amazing talent and under a good coach will shine. Plus there are plenty of good Halves who will be off contract for 2020.
We have 2 of them. I am sure there wil be 2 or 3 young halves who pop up during the season.
What happens if Moses and Norman both kill it? Moses has 10yrs of nrl infront of him while Norman could produce atleast 3 or 4 after the season is done. Bith would be seen as long term options.
It may take Brown 2 or 3 yrs before he gets to their level. He may also be another overhyped junior.

Interesting the sharks signed him.
Moylan is not a fullback and has to stay in Halves. I reckon the plan is SJ to fullback.
Theh also have Flannagans son who is highly regaurded.

Hey guys, excuse the intrusion. What's the deal with Dylan Brown? Hadn't heard of him until linked to the Warriors, what are his strengths/weaknesses, and is a 6 year deal for a guy with 5 ISP games as crazy as it sounds?
I think I can summarise it this way.

Right now, seeing as he's an Eel, he is a great kid and a player of great promise that we expect to be a future superstar and has absolutely zero weaknesses....

However, if he somehow ends up signing with your mob... He's an absolute merkin of a bloke who can barely run 20 metres without tripping over his own feet, is a worse defender than the offspring of a Chris Sndow and Mitchell Moses lovechild and has the kicking skills of a mongaloid so good luck with him....

Cheers. Sounds like he has the tools that SJ lacks, which is probably the basis of his appeal.

No idea if we are a genuine chance or not (his contract is apparently 2019 with an option in his favour for 2020 rather than locked for 2 years) but he's a Kiwi so it's worth keeping an eye on him regardless and hope he does well wherever he goes.

Unless it's the Roosters or Broncos - f**k them.
Yep, him being a Kiwi of course we'll keep our eyes on him, and our flock.

I wouldn't be surprised if Townsend is shopped. I think Johnson stays in the halves with Moylan at 6. Young Flanagan will probably take that backup half spot with an eye on making him the future starting half when Johnson's deal is coming to an end...

Also if he stays with the eels he will be on just over minimum wage for years even though the papers say he’s on $400,000. But if he leaves us for the Warriors he will be on $800,000 even though the papers say $400,000

Plus there's no point giving a teenager an option in his favour. Clubs offer this sort of thing to keep costs down, and SG Ball players are cheap enough already. There is no need to include that sort of thing in a contract for a bloke who just turned 18.
