Everyone deserves a second chance if the incident is relatively minor.

Agree. Notwithstanding the court hearing, he has a few bills to pay, as he will be uninsured.

Parramatta Eels Club player Jaeman Salmon has been charged with low range drink driving in a traffic incident that took place in October this year.

The NRL Integrity Unit has been informed as per our normal process and Jaeman will face court in January 2019.

Jaeman has already completed a safe driving course, however, once the legal process has been finalised, the Club will take the relevant next steps.

..........

According to a Daily Telegraph report, the 19-year-old’s white Jeep Cherokee hit three parked cars before rolling onto its roof, stopping southbound traffic in Miranda in Sydney’s south.

So... Is Salmon done now or what?

Already drink driving at his age isn't a good start...

Why would he be done? 1st offence. Probably drunk from the night before, imo seems more poor judgement rather than if it happened at night. From memory it was raining heavily so that could've also been a factor into why he crashed.

Not great but as long as he doesn't do it again, this won't rank in the top 10 of bad things footy players will do over this off-season.

How much do you reckon a quality half is on? $600K? $700K?
Is it what Ben Hunt is getting paid?
Or DCE? Manly have gone real well since they signed him up to that modest contract.

Perhaps the answer is to sign up cheaper halves. Like the Roosters did with Cronk

That's fair enough. But the NRL do need to get serious about this. There does need to be a very clear signal that any repeat behaviour will result in dismissal, regardless of who you are. People die.

I agree. The standard was set when Terepo was involved in something similar. But it seems his problem was that he didn't notify the club, I expect Salmon to get < 3 games. Which for first offence I think is fair enough.

What’s the worst about all this, is that these players think they’re either above the law or they’re invincible. It’s depressing thinking about what these players actually get away with.

Yeh. It is a difficult call (in terms of penalties), but they have make it pretty clear that driving a car when you're tanked is not an option.

For a smart bloke Gaz has plenty of brain farts or he thinks he is being funny but it misses the mark every f**king time.

Yeah but IFR33K is a deadshit who reckons anything that doesn't agree with his point of view specifically is the result of someone being deliberately obtuse or winding him up.

He's not alone in that around this miserable joint. It's funny how seriously some folks take a game they have zero influence over.

Geez mate so much hatred in one post. If you’re not happy around this miserable joint, you know what you can do. But have you actually had a think about the situation? Seems like you’re the miserable one mate. Go seek some help before you flush your miserable life away mate. Seriously.

With absolutely no idea what has happened other than what has been released (low range drink driving, accident happened in the morning) it appears that he spent a night drinking somewhere, got up to drive home and thought he'd be alright. That's what it appears to me.

If Inglis has been hit with a 2 match ban from the NRL (which he will not miss an NRL game) for mid-range drink driving and speeding you couldn't think that Salmon could get any longer than that. Then again it is Greenberg and he will probably sit Jaeman out for the year.
