I like this concept. The younger players meet the NRL players, train together and play together to give the younger players the idea of what it takes to become a top line player. Great concept.
I like it too. But, to be honest, I thought clubs in general had been doing this for a long time.

From the SMH in August. This guy's analysis of the cap and where a team is likely to finish the regular season. Make of it what you will.

Interesting that merkins think we're a team full of has-beens, while the author of that article says this:

"Similarly, seven of the bottom eight teams are the youngest in the competition, and the average ages falls away steeply at the lower end, with Manly (23.8) and Parramatta (24.8) fielding the two youngest teams"

This should also tell the "BLOOD JUNIORS!!!!" crew something about the vulnerability of youth:

"At the bottom of the table, the evidence is equally conclusive. The least experienced teams in this year’s NRL were Manly (81), Gold Coast (88), Parramatta (97) and Canterbury (100). These teams were in the bottom half of the competition all year. Inexperience becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy towards the end of the year, as poorly-performing teams decide to blood more young players in a rebuilding exercise, but the inexperience in these clubs was evident from the outset."

We weren’t in decline, but in hindsight Making the gf maybe gave DA and the team a false sense of security. Not many changes were made to the squad and we had an average 2010. What hurt us was having hagan and SK involved in our club. Things could of been different had DA been left at the helm for another year or two.
Yes Carl Webb and Chris Walker were 2 of SKs best. We lost Kingston in 2010 didn't we and our halfs turned to shit for some reason? And we were running last or near to when DA sacked. Incidentally we were running last or near to when Hayne started the run in 2009. From reports during DAs tenure the inmates were running the asylum and DA had no control over the players, not a good look for a coach, so in retrospect a poor coach who needed to go.

Wouldn’t it be nice to go all out and pay top dollar for the best coach, the problem is traditionally no amount of $$ would attract even the Bellamy’s of this world..maybe one day we can have the culture and management to do so

Culture's built by attitude, Parramatta-tude that is.

he had AFL guy
We still have AFL guy employed but sounds like Jimemez might be setting the agenda regarding training. And our concept now is towards big forwards, in complete contrast to BAs small forwards, and them developing offloads (again in contrast to BA previous years). Appears Alvaro is now around 115kg and last year Kaufusi looked around 108kg and now is also around 115kg. One hopes the extra weight doesn't slow them down too much especially in tackling department. That's a lot of weight put on in just several months of the off-season.

You think some guy that runs a laundry is smarter than me?

And you wonder why I haven’t set you up with one of my wife’s hot cousins who are just gagging for some sparky action.
But is she better than pringles otherwise Hindy won't leave the lounge?

Captain Obvious, we all know that inexperience is a huge contributor to a loss, particularly in a close game. Cronk was acquired by Roosters for his experience and it showed in the gf. A team can be built around juniors with experience in the right positions like the spine. The Storm have been doing this for years. That's why it is ridiculous to get rid of any of our halves while the fb and hooker positions are occupied by inexperienced players. That's how the juniors gain experience which means it'll take a few years before the team is ready to challenge for a gf spot.

In a world where Ricky Stuart, Michael Hagan and Paul Green can win a premiership it’s obvious that just about any coach can do it. The Roosters won six games in 2016. What if that was Robinson’s first season rather than his fourth? Should he have been sacked? You could argue he bought himself some time but you could also say in his fourth season he had no excuses. He built that team. The 2013 premiership squad was built by Brian Smith.

But the Roosters persevered with Robinson and he won the comp again two years after winning six games. Obviously he was just unlucky in 2016. Why wouldn’t you think Arthur was unlucky this year? We won six games too.

Mate, do you even listen to yourself when you write some of the crap you write. Almost every time I read your posts they are filled with twisted Pou logic, misinformation or revisionist history.

The highlighted bit is just the most glaring of the nonsense you are peddling here this time around.

They had lost their number one enforcer through injury and more importantly they had all that drama with Pearce and the girl and puppy show. Also they were never going to have the same attitude and belief in themselves until they signed someone that could replace SBW within that squad. Enter Cooper Cronk.

But if ever there was a time for a team to have excuses for not performing their injury toll that year and subsequent dramas off the field gave them that for most punters. Except you obviously.

But when it comes to Parra, you have an endless amount of excuses rolling out of your arse like a Chris Angel Mindfreak show in every post.

French is another. These players have a role to play in any team under a salary cap. It's why Storm players look worse just about anywhere else. In fact I suspect even Slater, Smith and Cronk would look ordinary at clubs like Parra or the Tigers.

I was actually going to say with the original post that French was the same. French is probably the quintessential example of a downhill skier.

And some don't become ready until 22 or older, Kikau comes to mind. Another the Cowboys let slip from their grasp, imagine their team with him and Ponga in it. Scary.
Imo in the past we've given up on players too early and never seen what they could be with good coaching and a bit more maturity. Lets hope our current crop coming thru, if they don't measure up straight away, are given a bit more time to adjust. Most are still under 20.

Cowboys didn't let Kikau slip through. Penriff offered him a shit load of money to come down, same thing happened with Peachey when he was at the sharks.
