Every merkins thinks they're a realist.

It's not the wins that reflect the team so much as the points differential, for the exact reason you state.

So our 2017 team was only slightly better than average, but why would you expect it to be any better than that, given we have the fewest TPAs in the NRL? How is the coach supposed to change that?

Changing tactics won't make your players any better. You have to assume in every case the coaches know enough about tactics to believe they've maximised their teams' strengths.

As for picking blokes out of position, it's what happens when you're trying to fit your 17 best available players into the lineup.

We had that in previous years with Fritchard and Tony Williams.

I honestly can't be f**ked, Ivor. It wasn't a big issue, about as small as calling someone a death rider, and if you refuse to acknowledge the hypocrisy then I can't see it changing now. It was mentioned at the time that you took such great offence to someone you agreed with being called names, but you gave them a pat on the back for their posts and agreed with their opinion in the same exchange when they had said whatever dribble they said. If you choose to plead dementia, then that's your prerogative.

Hey, mate, I have never given anyone a pat on the back for having a go at someone's partner. You have simply made that up. If you are going to push the free speech barrow, you can't just have some free speech and not others.

Death rider has been used on here for years to describe a select few posters who were always miserable and never posted anything positive or even rational. Their opinions were based in nothing but their own biases and never had any evidence to support them, and they would attack anyone who disagree or pointed out the flaws. Like Glenneel. It isn't anything to do with free speech. But you already knew that

Show me one post, just one, where I have 'attacked' anyone. Your confusing me with yourself, your the one who aggressively attacks anyone who disagrees with your opinion and end up calling them names. Childish stuff! Your posts are much better when you 'attack' the subject and not the person.

Glenneel has mellowed somewhat, there is some substance in his whinging (opinion). In the end, I take it all with a grain of salt...................................and a craft beer. Ohh....and some decent garlic prawns.

I was not whinging just offering an opinion on the state of the team, our roster or our poor tactics (actually was there any last year?). My biggest gripe was our small forward pack with few skills and the way they played verses those here who couldn't see any problems with them. I think I've been somewhat vindicated as BA has taken my thoughts on board with the inclusion of several bigger skilful forwards and a few existing forwards that have bulked up. Alvaro and Terepo are gradually developing some skills too. The inclusion of 2 big wingers is another step in the right direction.

Just a sobering thought, I read a recent post in !EE where in the 110 year RL history only 5 teams have made the finals the next year after running last. So less than a 5% chance so if we make the finals it'll be a great achievement.
