Hayne is already a declining drawcard on the Gold Coast, with a 7,000 lower crowd for his second home game - even after his matchwinning field goal heroics, and with the Titans' top 8 spot on the line.

Wouldn't have anything to do with the fact there are more New Zealanders living on the Gold Coast than Westies from Penrith would it?

TBH winning games is a far better drawcard than having a marquee player.
I agree, but a lot of people think the former requires the latter. I'm more inclined to think that having a strong overall team makes everyone look better, so your good players look like marquee players. Then merkins all carry on with "How can they fit so many stars under the cap?!?"

And when those players take big money deals at shitty clubs and no longer look like stars every merkin gets the shits.

and before Hayne turned up they had an average home crowd of 12,218 and that is with a game against the broncos which drew 21080. Without it they average 11,234

Apparently.

Reports suggest it's $500,000 and that runs out next year. Hasn't warranted anywhere close to that for a coupe of years. Even half that is still
MASSIVE overs.

Of course on his form $500k is massive overs. But it has been rumoured the Knights are happy to let me go and also pay some of his contract as well.

Obviously it's a risk and who knows if he is mentally/physically up to playing NRL. But he was available for something around $200k, he could maybe be worth the risk. He can play.

To be fair there was a bit happening on the Coast this past weekend.
It was Gold Coast Show long weekend (Friday was Public Holiday) & the Suns were also playing a home game (at same time?)
So a few people would have either been away or possibly at one of the other events.

I still think Hayne's pulling power has been overrated... crowd pulling that is.

Y'all talking about Hayne and im just happy we've got Vave, the guy is a machine. Hopefully we get brown and a half back. A hooker is also needed but IDG is a solid cover till then, he may not be flashy or fast but he plays with heart and does what he needs to do.
