Well he had options outside the NRL. That's a different story. Tallis and Lyon didn't have that option but they could sit out.

Even still, why do clubs offer players long contracts if they could just break them as soon as they get a better offer?

Any player today can just walk out of the game or out on a club.

But they can't just reappear at another club. If they walk out they are in breach of contract and won't get paid.

Likewise, clubs can't just f**k them off to free up cap space.

Gus stays and keep Blake and DWZ
They beat Dogs and Brisbane and win last 3 games and finish on 32 points and maybe in top 4.
From then with momentum they give it a shake. Would of been hard to stop

He only ever played edge forward last year when the whole team sucked. Do you think that was the reason maybe? Like how we got flogged when Reed Mahoney didn't start the game against the Storm? Or the time we got smashed when Kenny Edwards started at hooker against the Roosters?

Things like this aren't causal links, they are superstition.

What's this 'causal link' shit? We're just footy fans for f**k sake. (There's a bit of alliteration for you.)

I’m starting to think they may be cleaning up gus’ mess. Moving contracted players on, some quality ones too. Were or are they over the cap? Something isn’t right

I'd say "going to be over the cap" is their problem

And it looks like the fix is wearing paying some of their roster to play elsewhere.

It is interesting to see the list of versatile player on this thread:
John Morris
Taka
Daniel Wagon

etc

The one thing they all had in common was they were okay at most things but really over all fairly average at everything. Kind of like the type of all-rounder that T20 produces. A lot of the halves in the NRL are like that now such as Cleary.

In my opinion there are too many of those types of player in the NRL.
