Rumours and Stuff

What about Nathan Brown? Some of his games this year he was pushing similar numbers to De Belin. He is 2 years younger plus he was in a pack that has some dominant metre eaters, which could have taken away some of his work rate but also very middle forward based so that could have increased it slightly.

It's an odd one definitely. There is also talk of us adding another prop to our ranks, I think it has already been mentioned by Stags on here, so it appears we're actively trying to improve our middle whether it be through a "prop" or "lock".

Nathan Brown could be that guy. you are right he is young and he does a great job. Its just after watching the cowboys and raiders this weekend it just show how important it is to be great up the middle. We have definitely improved with Vave and Brown. I just feel like further down the track we can do better than rotating edge forwards into the middle.

interesting to hear about the extra prop, arn't the dogs trying to offload Lloyd Perrett? what ever happened to that guy? thought he was meant to be pretty good.

Lloyd Perrett drops the ball a lot doesn't he?

Jorge Taufua is still unsigned, at the right price I would see if he's interested. Around that $250-$300k mark.

Taufua is a 100k prove it deal at most, in my opinion. He is a borderline starter in Manly's shitcan backline, why offer him a median Top 25 deal?

Well if you can get him for that, then sure, but something tells me he would be worth at least around $200k. But sure If no one else is offering him an opportunity then by all means offer the bare minimum that can get him here.

The guy is an absolute beast when playing in a good team and he is focused. People seem to have a very short memory. He was in the top metres return stats in the comp only a couple of years ago.

He is just like so many other players that when they sense a team has no real chance of winning or making finals, they just drop off, especially wingers. Sure that is not the best attitude, but hey, every club has them. Besides he won't be on mega bucks and the up side is massive.

Tafua a couple of years ago was a beast, but he seems to have fallen off a cliff, as 40 said on a cheap prove yourself deal only.

There is a reason why Manly have not snapped him up.

He played this year like a golfer with the yips.

IMO Taufua's only positive is his dummy half runs while his negatives include having worse hands than Peni, is terrible in defense and attack under the high ball and takes a week to turn around and chase a kick behind him. I would be aiming at better personally as we have Semi as the metre eater winger, we need a different dimension on the other wing

These are some of my favourite types to recruit. Very cheap, but heaps of up side if they pull their finger out. Like I said I wouldn't be throwing the bank at the guy.

Fair enough on the very cheap but I'd consider $250k - $300k as close to throwing the bank at a winger.

The guy I wouldn't be throwing any money at is Sam Williams. Total dud. Can't even look good or take any advantage in a monster pack like the Raiders, with strike players every where. I mean they set HIM up the other week for a try.

What a total nothing. I hope our interest in him stays just a stupid rumour.

Yeah you were - 250-300k is in the upper echelon of starting wingers salary range. C'mon Rammy!!

He's the kind of guy who has proven flaws to his game, so you're better of signing someone younger, cheaper, and learning what their issue are, and seeing whether they can be coached out of them.
