he played 5 games this year and only 1 starting at 5/8 in round 20. And he didn’t contribute anything to our attack that night. It was the Gutho show that night.

Smith had nil TA nil LBA and made stuff all metres 40 m.....

Single handed one us the game against Tigers to cement top 4 spot. MoM in his one game at 5/8. Imagine he had a full season to gel.
Of course D.Brown is a better player. But based on potential. One guys on 150k and the other is in 600k+
I reckon the difference of what they offer the side currently is minimal. But Brown may just explode next season.

Dylan's only 20. I don't care where W.Smith played. Dylan's not currently worth anywhere near 650k. He may explode next season. But currently he doesn't offer a lot to our attack from what I see. His short kicking games ok. His long is borderline average. Defense is excellent. Passing game I have not seen anything in your T.Smith range or even Gutherson. And unsure about his game management and leadership skills. Not seen anything on that regards.

But I still feel Dylan will be better when Moses is gone and he become the chief playmaker and gets the ball on the last.

additionally his defensively reads were terrible...him and Taka got carved up on the edge. They made Benji look like a 20 year old ago, lucky he went off injured.

Mate, you're a legend, and I mean no disrespect - but I think you're being unjustly harsh on Dylan Brown.

Kicking, and passing will develop with time, and with confidence.

However, the two attributes that can't really be "taught" - defence, and running - Brown already has in spades.

I think Will Smith is great as a 14, coming off the bench to play hooker, or cover backline injuries.

But I have concerns over him playing 80 minutes on the 1, 6, or 9 jerseys.

I can't think of to many games where he was our best player or even top 3 last season.
But he is paid what Gutherson is making.
I expect him to improve a lot next season. Same goes for Moses.

There is plenty of young halves who are talked up and do not become superstars.
I beleive Dylan has a long career ahead. But whether it is a Mitchel Pierce level or higher is yet to be determined.

I reckon he has been well above average - perhaps it's your high expectations that see him graded as average?

And I don't mean to have a go at you, mate - I'm just saying that some people expect big things from young players.

I think he has shown that he is a well above average First Grade player already - he has brilliant defence, is great on his feet, and uses his second-rowers very well.

His kicking game is a tad erratic, but consistency will come with experience.

I doubt he's in our top three highest paid players anyway.

Not really. In 18 games he offered lots of running as evidenced by run metres, (over 100m a game) and line breaks but not much play making:

3 LBA's, 5 try assists, 10 line breaks

Imo, he offered enough for a rookie - he threatened to break the line constantly, and he put Lane away through a gap a few times.

He has plenty of work to do, but it looks promising.
