Sean Russell hasn't done anything. You can't claim 3 spine players when he hasn't even played a game of first grade.

I think I’ve worked out which hooker he’s talking about, but not sure on which 5/8 he’s referring to.

Yeah I certainly think the cost/benefit of developing juniors opposed to buying stars in the current game is strongest in the outside backs. The overall difference between the best winger/centre and the minimum required NRL standard is probably the closest of all positions but then the price tags can be ridiculously disproportionate.
I used to say that about props too but I reckon they’ve surpassed backrowers
Middle forwards have become much more valuable since ruck speed became the most important part of the game.

They still went elsewhere and won premierships. The problem wasn't the player, it was the club they were playing for. Look at all the juniors who left the Tigers and had success elsewhere. There's little benefit wasting money on 'developing' (poaching) junior talent if you can't offer anything other than salary cap space to retain them.

I used the word IF.... I mean we may also have Arthur's son ready to blood by 2022 and take Moses spot in 2023.
That would mean we generated a whole spine. Both may also fluff to nothing.

Cheers DB.
Any thoughts on the departures of Field and Sharp, the impact of their loss and who's replacing them?
Thanks.
Not sure really, they have employed Ben Rogers now as Head of Recruitment from South’s where he had that position for 5 years plus with decent results, and believe Isaac De Gois has been given more responsibility for junior recruitment and development.

Sharp was part time so expect he may be doing more at the Dogs.

BA, Rogers, ONeil and Serantinos are the panel that finalises targets etc.

Rogers was with the club previously in a similar role , not quite so far up the ladder and has worked with ONeil before.

Haven’t heard any bad reports about the new structure but early days, the results of next 18 months will tell the story I think.
