What I would be trying to do more then looking to replacing our half is find some genuine speed for our outside backs. See if I could trade someone like Waqa for Xavier Coates or even Herbie Farnworth. Or try to poach Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow from the cowboys.

But whatever we do in recruitment at this point needs to be with genuine speed in mind. Our playmakers need to know that they can send the ball wide with the belief that the receiver can actually outrun his opposite number. At the moment unless we are close to the try line there it just never happens and we get caught or corralled back in where the defenders are coming at us.

We need to bring the fear of speed to our game, which will then help our middles too by not having a compressed defense all the time since they know we can't out speed the on the flanks.

If the rumors are correct and Ado-Carr signed at the Dogs for $500K, then we really blew it by not pursuing him. That is a steal for someone of his immense scoring ability and will be wasted at the Dogs.

Hopefully that ankle injury doesn’t cause any long term issues. But yeah I’d really be looking at him and/or Coates as Fergo and/or Opacic/Menko replacements. Their defences are a bit meh but that could just be down to current club issues, plus those issues might make them even more readily available.

Never judge an outside backs defense, especially a wingers when they are playing in a sh*t team. Even the best defenders can look like crap out there.

Yeah but I just hope our club would do a bit more diving into their junior/reserve careers to make sure.
But I guess the other side is if they are replacing Fergo, that’s not the highest of standards of defence they have to at least meet

Toby Rudolf from the Sharks is one player I’d target for 2022 if we lose either Nathan Brown or Matterson. Big and aggressive. Still only 25 and off contract.

Stupid, stupid rule.

And they are so inconsistent with it.

I just do not understand it. Like sometimes they let it go on the first or 2nd. Then give it on the 4th. This is a huge disadvantage. While other sides I feel purposely hold sides down on the 1st knowing that is the one that sets the tempo as their forward back all sets their line. What is an extra tackle worth if you can slow them down for 5 seconds and have the line set. You gain ascendency.
A penalty and a 40mtrs gain via a kick for touch would be far better like it used to be.
