I agree. I think 1million is overs for Moses. But, he has improved. He could keep improving (or even just continue to play consistently at this level). I would consider paying a million a year for him. Cleary and Keary are definitely better than him (particularly Cleary) but that's irrelevant. My main concern is if Moses gets injured for any length of time, Dylan Brown is not the man to control this side. I would be looking to replace him rather than Moses at this stage. Brown might improve, but he hasn't shown me anything to suggest that he'll be anything other than a slightly above average first grade five-eight.
27 NRL wins before his 21st birthday isn't a sign of massive potential?

So if the rumours are right and we have offered Staggs $800K, do you think that he is worth anywhere need that?

I wouldn't pay Stags a cent over $500K. He is a centre who would touch the ball f**k all next to someone like Moses or any spine player. Sure he can break a game open here and there, but he is a centre. This position has changed over the last few years and defence is probably the number one trait that we should be seeking in centres now. He isn't to crash hot on this side of the game. The Hammer from the Cowboys would be cheaper and be almost as good in attack, with a huge upside maybe still to come as he develops further.

I would be looking to err on slightly over paying a half like Moses then substantially over spending on a centre like Staggs.

Centres are not as important to a teams success as a quality and experienced half. Anything around $800-$1m, is ok for a player like Moses that is coming into his best years.

Your dislike of him and his previous petulant behaviour is clouding your judgement and what is best for our team. Moses for the next 2-3 years should be our priority in this round of player re-signings. We will win nothing without him over this period and our Premiership window is now open.

Does anyone think that Souths have a realistic chance of winning a Premiership without Reynolds? Moses is our Reynolds. Sure they both aren't perfect, but they are both 2 of the best halves in the game and unless these clubs can replace them with someone close to equal quality and don't forget the all important experience factor, then that Premiership window disappears until those 2 requirements reappear.

No we need Moses for the short to medium term if we want a chance to win a Premiership within our current window over the next 3 years. Now is not the time to quibble over a couple of hundred grand.

You really would do a great job being in charge of our recruitment policy. Have you ever thought about putting your hat in the ring?
A premiership would be right around the corner I am certain of that. A dynasty

I think we need to look at our weaknesses this year and if we can fix any go for it. There aren't any super sides this year imo. Storm,Penrith and Souths are your front runners but all are beatable. If any of them copped 1 or 2 injuries we would be favourites over them.
So do we gun down a centre? I say yes.

Also hoping Roache starts to fire and stays fit. He will be a 14 who offers real impact.

I’m not as confident as some of you that if Moses was to leave we’ll just continue on our Merry way as a premiership contender in 2022.

Whilst I don’t think we should be signing him to $1m plus deal, the reality is that at the present time he is our marquee player, probably our first genuine marquee since Hayne. He has a good image off the field, he is generally liked by most, and that brings sponsors and opportunities to the club as well.

I don’t think a $900k deal for 3 years is overs for him. DCE is on $1.3. Milford, Hunt, on $1.1.

I’d argue Moses is in better form and brings more value to our club as a whole, not just on the field, than any of those players, and there is no replacement on the market that can match that.

Jake will get the nod imo, Eels quarterback 2022. He is destined for the position and is already handling the contact against men. Ba has shown that he's not afraid to select Jake, and he is definitely the future at the eels.
From what I've seen Jake is a good organizer with an improving kicking game, who seems to have plenty of time

So winning a lot of games early in a player's career doesn't guarantee a future Immortal, but it certainly puts Drown in good company:

Wins at 21st birthday

40 Lockyer (mostly at fullback)
34 Cleary
30 Foran
27 Brown (eight games left until he turns 21)
27 Pearce
27 Thurston
24 Marshall
19 Brooks
19 Johns
11 Hunt (mostly off the bench)
10 Moses
7 Cronk (mostly off the bench)
7 Johnson
4 Townsend
0 Cherry-Evans
0 Keary
0 Maloney
0 Reynolds

If Dylan Brown 'only' ends up as good as Mitchell Pearce or Kieran Foran I'll be happy, and you should be too. They are quality first graders.

If Walters wants to end his coaching Career have Drinkwater and Staggs in the halves.
He seems to already have Staggs pencilled in. Can't see him getting Moses or Reynolds. That leaves Johnston and some less regarded half. I reckon he's got to think outside the box. He needs to decide and settle. DCE, if he could get him would be a plus. I like Drinkwater and so does Brthur. Oh wait!

there is no reports of us offering Stagg $800k, if there was we wouId be talked up in the media as the favourites to sign.

Reports I have seen have only suggested broncos have offered him $700k.....

I've seen Jake Arthur play twice, once in that first grade trial where he was bad but I guess good for an 18 year old and then in the reserve grade game against Newtown where he was average as a reserve grader. Has he gotten better since then?
IMO he is nowhere near an adequate replacement for Moses for 2022 unless we are happy to go backwards a long way.
