that’s more if the half is a poor defender / small not for poor defensive reads.

JA seemed to handle forwards running at him pretty good. It was when he had to make a decision/slide that he struggled a bit.

That’s expected from a rookie half with 3 NRL games playing against the best attacks he has ever played against ...
I'd think Jrthur is a better defender than Sam Williams yet apart from Ice getting over him once that Chooks edge did a better job than our edge with Jrthur. Comes down to defensive strategy.

It's a bit harder when your targeted though. A minder would've sent the attack that way less often.

Because we just ran at Walker not throw different “shapes” at him.

Which is more to tire him out so he has less energy for attack (and hopefully get a lucky try)

Jake had issues defending attacking “shapes” at times not the one on one stuff Walker handled ok

The Roosters are great at bringing pressure from the inside. Another team whose pack is built for mobility rather than size.

How come our pack is not built for mobility? Nrown is not big, Hipgrave and Stone are small forwards, Paulo supposedly has the footwork of a halfback, or is that only in attack? RCG has scored 2 ripping tries this year by stepping the fullback. Matterson is mobile. Ice was 'too small' when we first signed him. Marata can play centre adequately ffs. I would think not reacting quick enough on the inside is more a concentration thing rather than a mobility issue.

Our pack is built for mobility, but we have two key attacking players (Mahoney and Paulo) that we rely on for very long minutes. That puts pressure on the other middle defenders and when it breaks down (after a sustained run of possession against) we get what we've seen over the past couple of weeks.

Also, mobility is as much about effort (maybe moreso) than it is about speed or agility. Niukore is fast but not a high effort defender, and Paulo's lateral movement might be good for his size but his size is very big. He also doesn't go well at effort on effort play.
