Here we go again with Gutho negotiations being dragged out in the media. So what did we learn last time? Seems like FA...so is it him, his manager or the club? Moses extension was handled with a minimum of fuss and thats the way it should be...move Guth and his petulant mgr on. $750k is overs. Time to make a call and tell him $650k is tops. He's not in the same class as teddy, turbo, Mitchell, munster...no club will pay $750k for him.
Dogs - dufty
Knights - ponga
Tigers - laurie
Melb - Papenhuysen
Broncos - Nui..???
Titans - Brimson
Cows - Holmes
Panthers - Edwards
Roosters - teddy
Manly - turbo
Dragons - Sloane
Raiders - Klokstad, Savage or Rapana
Sharks - Kennedy
Souths - Mitchell
Warriors - Walsh
No-one is replacing their fullback for Gutho.
He is snookered
I agree with all of that except he does have utility value and could easily sign somewhere else to play in the halves. I think he'd be worth about the same as at fullback.

Yes but why would anyone want to pay $800k to play him at 6 especially as he's unproven.
Don't get me wrong, Guth is a very good player and currently down on form but for anyone, even his management to think he's worth elite money is just insane...
Ok i tell ya what Guth. You have 4-8 weeks to prove your worth.
Lead your team and get them to finish top 4 and then request $750k - $800k...if not then take $650k and zip it...And get a new mgr too

Ponga is also rumoured to be moving to 6, Holmes isn’t a lock at fullback and Latrell can play anywhere. With Gutho being able to play 6 or 1, a number of clubs will be interested. Manly being the obvious one.

Cows would be better served having Drinkwater or the Hammer at fullback.
Mitchell went to Souffs to play fullback.
Foran signed for another year so no go there unless he wants to take up a centre spot until Foran leaves at the end of 2022. (No guarantee there)
Knights may be the only one but Pearce and Clifford i reckon stay as the halves for now.
Plus i don't think anyone would be willing to pay large for him eg. $750k+

Gutho is still with us in 2022 isnt he?
He is available to talk to after 1st November but that is for 2023 and beyond.

Let’s assume we tell Gutho’s manager where to stick it (which at this point, and with the info at hand) I would be happy to do.

do we hold onto Gutho for 2022 knowing he is going, or do we try and push him out now, chip in a bit of his salary for 2022 and start fresh next year?

If we push him out, who do we look at for the 1 spot in 22? Do we try and get someone like Will Kennedy from the sharks with Hynes going there? Make Manu an offer he can’t refuse - he is a genuine superstar - and he becomes our long term fullback?

Guthos negotiating for 2023. Foran will be gone by then. And rumors are Pearce is on the way out too.

Well the Eels have signed and not signed players since the last time this happened without any similar issue.. So the only person here who would leak this is his manager getting on the front foot trying to stir shit to get the fans on the club's back.
Unfortunately the Eels are not going so well so his manager kind of has shot himself on the foot.

I would go after Joey Manu for fullback and Zac Lomax at centre.

Who says he would need that much to go to another club? I'm sure merkins take less to go to the Roosters and Souths, or else how do they retain so many gun players? He might even take a pay cut to go back to Manly to shorten his commute.

Yep, he might even take less to play under a real coach
