Yeah, and I doubt Papali'i will want to take much of a pay cut, if any. If he wasn't motivated mostly by money he never would've signed with the Tigers.

Everyone's motivated by money, the question is how much. I mean how many players aren't gonna be tested by earning an extra 100k or so?

There's no arguing we haven't gotten great value out of Papalii, the flip side of that for him though is that in hindsight he's been underpaid.

I reckon it'd be easy to think if another club values that much higher than your current club, that your current club really doesn't value you all that much, loyalty's a two way street.

But yeah, why would he want to take much of a pay cut, it might be his last opportunity to cash in, a few years can be a f**king long time in pro sport, and your situation could change in the space of one tackle or run.

Whatever happens with Papa, we are a destination club and Tigers are a shit club. We will fill the void with a gun, just like we have with Hopgood for Stoney. We have Rodwell for Marata and still have Brown on the books if Papa goes. We just need to work out who will play on Papa’s edge.

Backing up, Carty, EEZ and young Toni Mataeli are putting pressure on the starters.

I’d be keen to see @Poupou Escobar ’s annual “who is no longer eligible for Flegg” list, as there are a few forwards from that grade who show a lot of promise. Double Hyphen, Larry, Taateo, Saxon Pryke, Niutili-Schmidt brothers and Jack Colovetti.

PS We have Tevita Taumoepenu in NSW Cup who looks good as well.

We just need one maybe two from that bunch to make it to NRL.

I don't think we are seen as a club players really want to go too. We are not the Roosters, Souths or Storm. We are not a powerhouse like Penrith.
And not a big club like Brisbane.
Sharks and Manly have the appeal of living on the water if that's your go. We are a solid side. We've kinda done little in the last 13yrs. 2nd week of finals isn't spectacular. Yes we are more appealing then Tigers or Warriors,Canberra,Knights. We are middle of road imo.

We definitely don’t have the pull of South’s, Broncos, Roosters and to a lessor side the Storm to get the “big names”…

But I suspect our club is very much becoming a destination club for fringe/“stale” players that either have promise or are looking for a change to improve….which is good, as it allows for good cap management and we obviously can’t complete with the big dollar contracts of the big 3…

JH is a good example, he had the option of the Cowboys (they thought they had him and he is from QLD), dogs or us…..

also think you are under selling, we haven’t achieve much, we have made the finals 4 out of the last 5 years….a massive achievement for a club like us. Gee a club like the Broncos and their resources don’t even come close to this…..

Hopgood….

of course we can’t complete with roosters for money….but are developing our nice little kingdom which players like….look at Rodwell / Cini….both washed up at 21 or so….both NRL contacted in 2023 now…players notice this, gives us cap space …
