Interestingly it seemed like Kimmorley was unable to get an NRL coaching gig in any capacity for 2016 after several roles in the previous years.

So in 2016 he was coaching Wests in the Illawarra comp. He lost the GF against a very high quality dapto side ( they had several players with NRL experience)

Not sure if this is reflective of his coaching ability or not.

BTW - Mary McGregor previously coached Wests (despite being a dapto boy) and Ryles was also recently there coach

At a club with assistant coaches, technical knowledge isn't the main quality you want in your head coach. Players asked about Arthur's best quality always refer to his communication, especially his honesty. I'd say the majority of what we think of as 'coaching' - what we got from footy coaches during our days as kids - is done by assistant coaches these days. Head coaches in a professional (or semi-pro) system set strategy and provide direction.

Just on your acquisitions from the Panthers can I say they are all potentially good signings.

Matagi whose obvious strength is his ball running, hit's it up with gusto every time. Can be a lazy defender so that it his downside.

Will Smith is a player I really like but doesn't always have the confidence to match his ability when called upon at the top level. I think he is NRL quality but really needs to back himself, something he didn't always do with us.

George Jennings career with the Panthers was ruined by serious injury. Showed he has the ability to play in the NRL but have to be doubts given his injury woes.

I wish them all well with you guys, particularly Will Smith who I would love to see make it at the top level he really is exciting to watch when he is on song.
