*re-signsWhether it’s for another 4 years or another 3, I think it’s highly likely if he resigns that we top him up for this year

Well, you know what to do.This forum has become boring. Am I the only one sensing this?
Happy to be proven wrong but.
You're wrong.I would be very happy to be proven wrong.
I've followed the Eels for 30 odd years.
What halves have we produced that are at Moses level? Hodgkinson and Maloney are two who where good. But did they reach Moses level?
The list of the next gun half is very long. I think Dargan was the last one people seemed to like a lot.
Dylan seems the first I can remember in my time following Parra that is a genuine 12yrs in the NRL half. That's not to say Sanders won't be. But if played the odds game he is 100-1 to get anywhere near Moses level.
My position is that Mitchy is 29 in Sept 2023. So he's 33 in 2027.It is not about how good Moses is in comparison to what we have produced in 30 odd years. It is about what we require in a number 7 for years to come and at what cost.
What does Moses provide to our side that entitles him to top dollar? which means we need to potentially weaken other areas of the squad.
If you focus completely on how good Moses is and how he is one of the best 7s we have had in 30 odd years we will inevitably over pay for him. We need to be rational about these decisions and do what is for the good of the team holistically.
Your above reasoning is fuelled by emotion. Which should not be a consideration when negotiating any deal.

Good 7's are very hard to come by and provided that he is durable injury wise, then I reckon signing him until 2027 is fine. I can't see a downside really.

I reckon the NRL salary cap is on the rise and future increases will make Moses a bargain in the end. Unless of course his salary is locked into a % of the cap.I agree. I want him to stay. My main concern is for what amount and for how long.
If we did not have Dylan Brown/a capable 5/8 full of potential; Moses would be worth more to us and have more leverage in the negotiation.
Now that we have locked in Brown I would like to think the club management are leveraging his abilities to ensure we do not overpay Moses for what our needs are for the next 3-5 years.
