There are a number of QuestionsIt is not about how good Moses is in comparison to what we have produced in 30 odd years. It is about what we require in a number 7 for years to come and at what cost.
What does Moses provide to our side that entitles him to top dollar? which means we need to potentially weaken other areas of the squad.
If you focus completely on how good Moses is and how he is one of the best 7s we have had in 30 odd years we will inevitably over pay for him. We need to be rational about these decisions and do what is for the good of the team holistically.
Your above reasoning is fuelled by emotion. Which should not be a consideration when negotiating any deal.
a) Who are we going to replace him with and to keep us as a premiership contender?
b) What other positions is currently affected? We seem to have signed up our 1, 6 and 2 big props and 2 edge forwards (Matto and Lane). 9 is probably the only one but will we be chasing a $1M hooker?
Actually, i think we are overpaying Drown and not Moses. We are overpaying Drown for his potential. We have done that for a number of years now. What we pay Moses is actually on the mark.
