And you're basing this on journos that make shit up? Forget @hindy111 and his little turds. I didn't rely on journos, just my own instincts and proper sources. So back in November I made a bet with @chiefy1 that Moses, Brown and Penisini would all re-sign before round 1, 2023. He now owes me $200, not me but my favourite charity.

A cheque to Bear Cottage please, @chiefy1

Since the joint venture started in 2000 they have finished 9th on 6 occasions.

(2004,2007,2009,2016,2018,2019)

Only made the finals 3 times.

So basically they have finished 9th on twice as many occasions as they have actually made the finals.

Finishing 9th is a result of their boneheaded recruitment decisions. Imagine chopping / failing to re-sign Moses Tedesco Addo-Carr Koroibete even Woods and Fafita.

Moses and Teddy had better clubs want them. The place was a rubble.
I never understood how they let Marty Tapau go. I rated him since day one. Same as JAC

I'll go out on a limb here but and say I think they will suprise this season.
It's a tough forward pack. The Dogs have made big splashes but the Tigers have recruited smartly and have some good juniors who will impress in the next year or two.

Dogs surprised me how poor they were vs cronulla on the weekend. Yeah it was a trial but they should have bpeen pumped to show something in their first outting with new players. Tigers went good.

both will be better

Question is wh8ch teams will be worse

1.25 for Moses??? Really??? Glad he's staying but sounds like as usual the club bent over when it matters. In big games he's still a massive liability IMO, even in the Cows Semi he was bog average. I think 1m was more than fair i know we made a GF but it's not like he took us there on his back. How much quality can we surround him with when we are pay our halves over 2 million dollars???

Yep 1.25m is 250k overs (If what is reported is accurate)

We had all the leverage as well. Not really sure why we would bend over. The longer the negotiations dragged the less valuable Moses becomes.

Yeah. Moses is obviously still at his peak. The question is how good he will be at 32 or 33. Luckily his strength is his kicking game, and that never declines in a halfback. He can afford to drop plenty of speed as well. It comes down to durability. Will he become injury prone? Or just a bit slower? It’s very exciting.

How come kicking game never declines in a half back?

It takes athleticism to perform Moses' long kicking game. Athleticism reduces as you age.

Kicking game also completely declines if you are injured (As you are not even on the field) and likelihood of injury increases with age.

Rugby League Eye Test on twitter has stated that under the proposed new salary cap, based on statistics, Moses would be worth 1.18 million. So if we've signed him for 1.25 it is slight overs but it's a similar percentage to what we're paying him now.

If anyone's contract has prevented us from signing anyone in '23 it's Nathan Brown on approx 500k but seems highly unlikely to play firsts.

What would Munster be worth? He re-signed from 1m per season...

Surely Moses is not worth more than Munster?

Dogs have some exciting players but are they tough? The pack is a bit average to me and some of the backs are young and inexperienced so hard to know if they are stars in the making or hyped up average players.

There is loads of pressure on Burton. I've said this before. Players in weak sides get an easy run. Other sides just don't take you that seriously. But once your sides in contention for finals other teams start to really do their homework on your best players. And for them it's Burton.

A lot of Mahoneys 2022 decline was due to his success in 2021 and Parra being a threat. Sides knew they had to target him to help slow us down. Explains why his TA's all but dried up and he started missing more tackles.

D.Brown hasn't had it easy. He has been targeted and a game plan on him since day one.
