People label us as a club that can turn average players into champions and I think we may have been reading our own press given some recent "project" signings. Ice is a stand out but even then Im not sure we inproved his D. Lane was always an X Factor who has shown moments of brilliance and laziness. Reg was just pis*sed off at The Pennys and was always a good player up until his bad injury. Weve definitely improved Moses D. Gutho always had great potential. He just needed good luck injury wise.
Maybe Ive missed others.

All clubs have plodders, my point was we brought in plenty of dross when we had better talent already at the club. What does that say about a club that wants to be labeled a development club?? Hands is a perfect example we are lucky he never chucked the shits and went elsewhere.
Yeah, lucky no other club wanted him, including that development club Penrith. Don’t pretend clubs should be able to predict which nuffies will have a go and which ones won’t.

I was also a little concerned about us sniffing our own average player improvement farts preseason and on top of us wanting to replace Papali’i with a new project player, we decided to replace him with 3 projects that are largely the same type (Doorey, Murchie & Momoisea). We should’ve left the projectivity with Doorey (or I guess with whoever we signed first among them) and used the other 2 spaces to improve other weaknesses.
The only “acceptable” but not really acceptable reason is they expected Papali’i to flip. Relying on that though isn’t acceptable

I think 85% of NRL players can be categorised as a Good player around Great Players that make Good Teams, and Average player around other Average players that make teams Shit.

Aussie language - average = shit

The funny thing with NRL that if talent distribution was mostly even among clubs then in squads of 30 with every player available a sport which requires teams to pick 17 players each week would mean that every team is required to pick 2 players every week that are below the median talent line.
And people wonder why BA only uses half of the bench

Yeah I reckon you have probably only have around 10 elite players in the comp.

Around 35 players who are rep quality but are the rung below the elite.

Then you have above average decent players before you get to the scraps.

Name a club who has a gun in every position in their top 30. I'll wait.

Facts are that they all gamble on ugly ducklings turning into swans and every club inevitably is left with a few that don't work out. That's the only way you can balance your cap. But go ahead and have a whinge anyway.
Chook aren't that bad when everyone is fully fit

How much would the 3 cost? Would it be more than what ipaps wanted

Rodwell is putting up better numbers, in an even smaller sample of games.

No. Morretti has leapfrogged him now. I would almost guarantee right now only Morretti and Mataele would,d be considered for NRL bar guys who played on Thursday and Lane/Jnr.
I'd be very suprised if Rodwell or Moimesea play before these two after rnd 10. By then their NSW CUP FORM would have shown they are superioe

I think you will find that every team except us has a really strong 1-30 squad and it is only the ineptness of BA, MON and whoever else is in our recruitment process that causes us to have such a shit 21-30 players.
Huge admission dude!
Oh sarcasm. Ok. I get it. 😁

BA has made some great signings but people on here sugar coat some of the poor ones. Hit and miss

Waqa,Simmonson,Hodgson,Moimesea,Murchie not great.

Moimesea I doubt is on more then 150k so it doesn't effect our best 17. It does take away a spot from another kid but. Its not a huge mistake.
Waqa -500k+ is a poor one. Simmonson is probably on 250k amd he is maybe worth that so again its not an issue.

Hodgson on the reported 400k? Hands on a min pay looks as good or better.

N.Brown I guess we lost about 300k on him this year.

So yes you win some and lose some. But fact is it's a tight comp and our stars are cashing in. The only way we are top 4 is if we get good value elsewhere.

Imagine having HANDS start and Hodgsons money. You're 250k up. Waqa not here 500k and N.Browns losses 300k.
That's 1 million. Now think of replacing a 200k player like Murchie with a 750k and using 350k extra there and Waqa with a 650k centre. Perhaps a Zac Lomax.

I thought we rushed the Hodgo signing after losing Mahoney.

In saying that i would have gone for Verrills but he is already injured and seems made of glass. So perhaps we dodged a bullet there

Dogs and Warriors are now above us is premiership odds betting.
We are 36-1
Can almost get 3-1 to finish top 8
And 10-1 for top 4.

I think this is an indication of how we have started. But gee 36-1 is good odds. I do expect to see a few signings soon.

Well it’s needs to still be compared to Papali’i and 2 others. Momoisea is surely on min wage so essentially cancels out one of those extras, so really it’s do you think Doorey and Murchie cost more or less than Papali’i and a min wager?

I reckon 36-1 is still a bit short

I said we had to go for W.Egan or Liddle. Hodgson I'd give 5 more game and then if hasn't improved talk about retiring him end of season.
Egan jumped up the list last season but Liddle is a less skilled, younger but not much more agile Hodgson.
Hodgson has been ok with the ball so far but his defence is almost untenable. His line speed is good and he can hit hard but he has no lateral movement (which I think impacts Hopgood/RCG’s defence too) and is terrible at controlling the ruck.
I think we need to split his time with Hands and if Hodgson’s defence can’t last 20 minutes a half, we need to have a serious conversation with him about next season’s option
