Well this will be interesting for those who wanted Flanagan to come here and see if we dodged a massive bullet or made a fatal mistake.

If he turns a current basket case like St George Illawarra into a finals side.

It would make you wonder what he could have done with our group.

Pretty sure our current coach took a basket case and made them a finals side.

Well that's true

It took BA 4 years to get us to finals and 6-7 years to become a regular finals side.

Do the Dragons board and fans have the patience to go that long.

BA lucked in some what with the instability before he joined that we finally had no choice to settle on stability after 6 coaches in the preceding 7 years from 06-13. And a constitution change.

That gave BA time to get the roster he wanted with the style of footy along with the salary cap into shape post 2016.

Some coaches only get 2 years now if there is no improvement they are gone after 18 months.

Well the Dragons have had bigger problems than who the coach has been. You are right that BA got lucky in that he took over the team during a time of change within the club which was needed for quite some time.
Still, he had to build the team up and get through the salary cap mess. Apart from one (completely disastrous) year he has had us as a genuine Finals team and more consistent than we had been in years.

Can Flanagan do that, despite their looking like not much is going to be changing behind the scenes? Only time will tell, but at least he will have his mates at Fox right behind him. Expect the Dragons to get talked up at every opportunity (much like the Raiders) from now on.

2017 (and 2018) were before the front office restructure, and I’d say the relative success of 2017 was aided by some residual benefits of the salary cap cheating, while 2018’s failure was largely due to the delayed effects of the punishment.

BA has lucked it for 10 years. Some say he’s been kissed in the pecker. Happy Anniversary BA! Thanks for all the memories and spoons.

I’ll never forget his interview on Sterlo, with his creased suit and crooked tie he looked every inch a football club chairman. Sharpie should be thanked because if it wasn’t for him and his team’s incompetence we would still be stuck with all the factional BS.

In all fairness to Sharpy, he appeared to have good intentions to help out the club that he obviously loved.

The issue was that he was probably well out of his depth, but ultimately had he not been here we'd likely be still where we were in the mid 2010's
To his credit he quarantined the club from the clutches of Mr Burns and Fat Tony and pointed us in the right direction via Administration and Max Donnelly.
