The NRL better sort this Ben Hunt sh*t out and pretty quickly, before he signs with another team(Broncos).
If he does sign with the Broncs, then the comp has turned into a joke and what's the point even trying to compete with the current pathetic rules in place when the best and strongest clubs can add a top 3-4 playmaker to their roster at this point in the comp and get such an over the top advantage.
People make out that it is to difficult to fix and that it is a tricky one. Well only if you don't have a brain or can't make strong an decisive decisions. My solution would be if you wish to leave your current club to join another NRL club, then fine you can do it, but whatever your full salary for that year is(in Hunts case $1.2m) will go onto and included into the new clubs cap, but all the new club actually needs to pay him is what is still left and remaining on his salary for that year.
That way not many if any strong club should be able to just simply pickup $700K+ player and stack their roster at the pointy end of the season as is what will happen with Hunt when he is granted a release to joint the Broncos this season.
It is heartbreaking for fans like us that have been waiting for so long and just when we are getting in a position to actually give it a red hot crack, this is about to happen out of the blue to us and of course every other club that has a chance of winning it.
I don't see much difference in this to having rorted the salary cap by about $700K+ to fit a player like him in your squad. Like I said, if this happens, which I don't have any confidence in the ARLC/NRL to stop it we and every other club have been duded.
I will probably give it up if it does. What's the point in putting all my energy and emotion into this game and then have the hierarchy of the game not give to fu*ks about all the fans that make the game what it is in first place? My interest will definitely wane considerably and I will only take a cursory interest from here on in.
Go NRL, you really know how to attract and keep the fans that love the game happy.
