Yeah it was a very convincing campaign fought hard by many who have since changed their tune. Emu is a beast who always had what he finally got a chance to show. If used correctly he can be huge moving forward.
Id like to see Cini given a decent opportunity. I thought he played extremely well in the pre season trials. Such a pity we had so many superstars keeping him out of the 1s.

I don't mind our 2024 squad. Spines good enough and the packs decent. A couple of guys like Betham and Mataele with a big off season could also explode. Morretti and Grieg are two more who could really go up a level.

My only issue is hooker, centre and wing. Sivo and Russel are capable but I am not convinced on either.
Simmonson is just average. Fine if in a quality backline but he isnt. He actually isn't that much worse then who we have. Penisini is solid but not a word beater at this point.
Our 2-5 lack skill and speed. If we landed a gun centre I'd be happy. At this stage we just need to hope Sivo has a big season and Penisini and Russel go up a level.

You're right that we don't have the best team, but this is a function of resourcing, not decisions about whether Herbie Farnsworth is a better player than Morgan Harper. Nobody at the club thinks Harper is a world beater. But it's not him stopping us from signing very expensive outside backs, it is players like Gutherson, Brown, Moses, and a few of our forwards who are stopping us spending big on outside backs. There is a salary cap. If you want to improve one area you literally need to weaken another. If other clubs have better rosters overall it's not because of any decisions we are making around recruiting. It's around being able to sign players on unders, at least from a salary cap perspective.

He has poor hands - he drops passes with little pressure on him.

The stats agree with you from the perspective of 2021 (however he was better than every merkin's favourite one-that-got-away Tom Opacic) but in 2022 and 2023 he wasn't in the top 50 for errors per game.

Righty or wrongly, Dunster, Loizou, Lumelume and Cini have all played first grade. Harper is just another in this elite list.

Morgan has played 56 NRL games. Those four have played 32 games put together.
