So do you want them to fix bad decisions or stick with them for the sake of consistency? The NRL missed out on a crowd puller for the sake of salary cap 'fairness' with the Folau kerfuffle. Now there's a chance a solid nuffy like Simms would be lost to the game because no other club can afford his false market value. The fact is, if he is off contract then any club can offer more than the Broncos if they want him. Likewise Barba re-signing with the Sharks. If another club wanted him they would only have to offer slightly more than the alleged peanuts Cronulla have offered.

it would be nice if they acknowledged a bad decision then went away, looked at the issues then brought out a new policy to fix things instead of these endless kneejerk reactions making it up as they go along

The thing is, we should be treating Gutho like any other young player coming into a spine position. Give him more than a year if needed. Moses took a while and is still not top class, as did Mitch Pearce, Hunt and any number of other young halves. Even Thurston took years to win a real premiership, and isn't that the ultimate goal. I realise that's not the way we do things around here, but he is an investment and I'm convinced he will pay off. He only needs to be pretty good this year to be a success and worth persevering with IMO

I think the difference might be that those other players you mention were already halves to begin with. Gutherson is an outside back. I hope he makes the transition.
