I don't flog myself over plod you dope, I just recognise the need for it in any balanced top 30. I'm not slashing my wrists. As for our juniors, I reckon most of them are overrated. You merkins are the ones having a Jersey Flog. Ethyn Martin ffs. Good under 21s player but I won't be surprised if he never plays first grade.

none of us but pou were surprised that he picked up another ACL or even the neck injury that ultimately retired him.

It was just confirmation bias. Every player is a chance of getting injured, and especially older players. It doesn't mean it was inevitable.

Our biggest risks was Jnr and Rcg. Both start the season aged 30. And have 3 more seasons.
To be fair it probably isn't the worse risk. They will be 32 in their final year. It's possible both drop off in form dramatically but that would probably be more due mentally. I still can't see either being considered for NSW by 2026.

Our possitives is we have two good halves. That's the hardest spots to fill. Nearly every other position a few players come from nowhere every season to be stars. Look at wing this year. Nobody would have expected DWZ,ISAKAO,TURUVA,Dom YOUNG to be 4 of the better ones this year.

I thought it would have been best if we didn’t re-sign Junior unless he would take less money. Unfortunately we signed him for a long contract with a pay increase. Still a chance it will work out ok, but from what I saw this season it has already screwed us.

Paulo at this time is worth $500k max

You can think what you like..of course. But in regards to Mal, you are WRONG. He is an outstanding human being, an Immortal for his achievements as a player, coach, and a person. He inspires everyone around him, and the current group of players are so close it is a credit to the way he has bonded them. AND he has charisma by the bucketloads - and has time for everyone....

I have my opinion of Mal as a player and coach - and I concur with the judges..he is an Immortal.
It pales into insignifance as to what he is as a man, friend, role model and inspiration. He has never changed.
He has a coaching record in SOO football that is unmatched. He is the obvious choice as coach of the Kangaroos...

Was that the year 2000 Noddy kept Joey in at the hooker position for NSW.

I reckon Joey was at his peak during his last 6 years 2001-2006.

I didn't see much of him before that season but certainly after his brother Matty got pushed out the door in 2000 i think Joey took his game to a new level from 2001 onwards.

2003 & 2005 is when he dominated Origin.

2001 he won a premiership & 2002 he got injured before the finals which probably cost Newcastle another Premiership.

I think Juniors forms always has had up and down years. Why I do not think 2023 was just him in decline physically from age and wouldn't be suprised if he bounced back.

30 isn't that old physically. I think with Junior its mentality. He can get a bit lazy and also a bit pass happy. There was still a few games thisnyear he was destructive. It wasn't like he didn't have it anymore. Just seemed a bit distracted and also heavy

I have always liked Junior but I think he's not as dangerous as he used to be. I really think he needs some time away from sport in general for starters.
