Weren’t we told to be patient this time last year and pass judgement once our top 30 was finalised? That didn’t pan out well. I don’t hold much hope for next season either. I think fans are more than justified to be concerned

We beat Penrith twice. If playing well we are a good side.and have enough talent to be top 4. Just need some consistency

Did we even have a review?? Was it even a concern over our failure of a season?? Or was it just out down to a tough draw and bad luck like Pou would have you believe???

The Storm have a review every single season even when they win a comp. But their standards are just a little bit higher than ours.

Hell do you even need a review to see that they have failed in recruitment the last 2 seasons? It's pretty bleeding obvious to everyone but Pou.

All the spin and bollocks that there were this reason or that are just nonsense. There were and still are players better then Morgan Freakin Harper to sign and I still expect it to happen unless the R and R team are literally and actually planning and working against us.

If I was the board I would be reading them the riot act and damn any freakin reviews. Do you think a leader like Kerry Packer would have worried or waited around for a review if his organisation lost most of its startup stars of a new and dynamic growth market that he was investing millions in(NRLW) or after being 2nd in market share one year(NRL) to only lose all that ground and go way down to 10 in market share when it was so easy to avoid it with a little smart and tactical planning, in the space of one business cycle?

No I think he would have marched in everyone involved and demanded real answers without the waffle and excuses and then made changes as he thought fit. He wouldn't be the type that wasted time on pigeons and expected them to soar like eagles. The tolerance and acceptance of failure around our club by the people in charge and some posters here is astounding and why we will never win another premiership unless we fluke it Steven Bradbury style like I have said so often before.

I mean who has replaced Nathan Brown in pathways now that he has left? Anyone? And if we do fill that role again will it be with someone with real ability for the role? Worse still will they leave it vacant until they see that we are sliding backwards again in 3-5 years and then do a "internal review" and announce that we are going to appoint a pathways co-ordinator that will address the shortcomings in our system and around and around we go.

These idiots are just a bunch of clowns from where I'm sitting. And don't start me on that new jersey if we can call it that ffs!

We have however the worse 2-5 in comp and the worse back ups at this position.
Our only real hope here is if Dunster come good and Talagi and Ethyn developed fast.
That completely transforms the backs.
I think Dunster will at least be better this year purely on the basis he gets another pre-season under his belt.

He should be more confident mentally getting through a season without doing any more damage to that knee.

It was a horrific injury like you cant expect the kid to come back straight away and be where he was before the injury.

There is always lag time from when you return to when you get back to your best mentally & physically.

That’s the correct number of outside backs for a top 30 and the appropriate mix of top 17, fringe and backup players. Three of them are 21 or younger, so have plenty of upside.

I agree mate but at least if there was a review there would seem to be a problem, some sort of acknowledgement that the season was a disaster and not good enough. Instead absolute crickets from the powers that be. And we are all told on here to be patient and the club are doing all they can for us to win a comp. Signing absolute Dross like Morgan Harper says otherwise.

Penisini the best of that lot but hardly a superstar at this stage. Not exactly a list to make ones pee pee stiffen.

Only if you look at them in isolation. We have obviouly chosen to prioritise our cap space toward the spine and middle forwards. That means there is less salary cap for outside backs. Clubs with better outside backs are likely to have less quality in the spine or the forwards. Then there's a couple of highly resourced clubs that are strong across the park. We haven't been one of those since 1986 ffs.

We did have a post-season review.
We do one every year. Every team does.

Do you think they all just sit back after GF day and do nothing until the trials start? They go over the season and look at what went right and what needs improvement. From there they can understand how they can move forward.

Fair enough, review done.

The question is what the heck are they doing, still the same bottom 4/5 level backline, still using the same defensive structure, having players that are not NRL standard move into the top 30 due to contract requirements. No elite back seriously targeted.

So, not a great response if the review was accurate on where the club is. The coach will always work with what he is given, problem is the givers don’t appear up to it. A club our size not attracting/ signing an elite back over the past 3 years shows there is an issue. Someone from the club is responsible and would be good to get an overview of the issue.

Well, yeah that's another issue entirely.
They obviously know the areas in which we need improvement. You can see this from their attempts to recruit outside backs mid-season this year, and rumours surrounding their attempts for next year. It would all come down to the money side of it all, I'm guessing. How much salary cap do we have left, how much do we want to spend on a new player, and do we pay overs if we have to?

Maybe they have decided that we don't want to give out a long, expensive contract for a top-class player when we have good, cheaper options coming through who can fill those spots adequately.

From the outside it all looks like a mess, sure. But who knows what's happening on the inside.

Probably they do understand what is needed, the comparison with say the Roosters is stark, they saw Tupou declining and Sualii moving and they target and sign Dom Young. They see JWH become less effective, who’s the closest to him in intimidation, they look and sign Spencer Lenui.

As a contrast , we lose, Fergo, Jennings. Opacic and we look around and sign basically a back up. May well have looked at Farnsworth and others, but the committee may not have been prepared to spend the necessary and we lose out. Do you think for instance that every club would lose a talent like Ethan Sanders , to the Raiders of all clubs ?

The people in the R&R area are all good guys, but do they have the gravitas to get big things done, It’s like baseball - can we hit a home run or do we hang around waiting for the other side to pitch 4 balls and we wander down to first base. Big clubs get things done, and by all measures we are a big club, so the current situation is questionable.

I understand and carry similar concerns however there is still four months before the Top 30 is finalised. I expected more this season than what happened and I certainly will have an issue should we not do something around the current lineup particularly if the reports there is money to be spent is correct. Given the cutrrent climate and how many players the Bulldogs are chasing and have on their books I believe there will be movements around a number of clubs. The biggest issue is the club thankfully aren't playing any of it out in the media.

How do you know they're using the same defensive structure? Unless I've missed them we haven't played a game for 2 months

Nothing would surprise me at this club, seriously nothing. The only time we have ever heard anything about a review was in 2018. Which was a Clayton’s review because the coach was already safe even before the review was conducted. So forgive me for having any faith in anything these clowns do.

Sounds like to me that we need to get people in to review the reviewers?

Well according to one of our fellow posters and the mail he's getting, cap space is not an issue, it's fitting new players in to the 30 man squad...

Pretty piss poor either way IMO...
