The problem with a player like Moretti, is his defense, or more precisely his enduring fitness in defense and still maintaining his surging aggression in attack.
But this will only come with consistent NRL exposure and at least a good 20-25 mins hit outs and full blast off the bench. Not 5-10min cameos that seem to be all the rage from our coach.
The kid needs real game time and at least 20 games of it to get that all important familiarity and experience and how to time himself and so forth at NRL level.
Agree with the first Parragraph. It’s in line with #parrafit. Our fitness isn’t great but can definitely see with players who join, there are other clubs where fitness standards are atrocious (side note I do worry with having too many project players that this stunts our own standards).
In terms of game time though, it depends on positional intentions. If he’s seen as a combo forward/lock like a Ofahengaue/Matterson then 20-25 minutes initially is fine and he can rise the ranks in time.
If though he’s seen as a “light” prop (which I think is his absolute best, but harder to achieve, position) like a Cotter, then 25 minutes ain’t going to cut it. He needs 50-60 minutes regularly in reserves, hold him off in NRL until we’re missing 2-3 props then he gets 40+ minutes at NRL and we pray we can conjure a win
