Yet they cleared Jennings to train with the Roosters who has been accused of similar actions to that of Scott....

Continues to highlight the hypocrisy of the NRL. They shouldn't pick and choose who they allow return.

I agree.
I'm not sure why the NRL has decided one is ok and the other not. I actually noted this when Scott was told he would not be allowed back, that it's strange to have such inconsistent rules (with the caveat that I'm perfectly fine with him not being allowed to play).

Maybe it's because Jennings wasn't convicted in a criminal court. Maybe because he showed remorse and Scott didn't. Maybe because Roosters just get what they want. Who the f**k knows. I'm still fine with Scott being told to f**k off though.

Its more the applause for Abdo and PVL that I can't stand. They did the right thing with Scott no doubt. Jennings was found guilty though - in a civil rather than criminal level. I am starting to get a bit jack of one rule for a few clubs and another for others. OVL and Abdo are doing an horrendous job particularly given the amount of executives that are leaving, up until now, in a quiet way and not being replaced. There spin on the whole thing is comical.

You've just proved my point.
No I didn't.
We've always started better then where we finished up.
No we haven't. In 75% of the last four full length seasons (excluding 2020) we finished higher than our mid season ladder position. Personally I think the difference is statistically negligible, but it certainly doesn't show that we've finished seasons poorly.
But I'm talking about is a marginal drop off in performance of the big men (due to big minutes played in games over the full year) which imo leads to us not winning the big games against strong opposition when it matters most at the back end of the year.
I think they are just better than us. Since 2017 we have lost eight finals matches, and three of those have been against Melbourne and three against Penrith.
Only in 2022 did we perform well in the finals series but were burnt out by the gf.
Oh right, so we weren't burnt out by the preliminary final but we were burnt out the following week? The year before I suppose we were burnt out by week two of the finals. The year before that we were burnt out by week one even though there were only 20 rounds played. You can't just say we were burnt out as soon as we lose a game. We belted Canberra two weeks before the grand final, then came back to win in Townsville. Were we burnt out in those weeks? How about week one where we shat ourselves after Moses got hurt? I suppose we were burnt out then too. Crazy how fresh we were the following weeks against the Raiders and Cowboys.
Less minutes, being rested to overcome niggling injuries will lead to a better outcome imo.
No doubt rest is important but there is 10000 minutes to recover between games. An extra ten minutes on match day means nothing.

Is Hopgood's nickname actually Hoppa?
Because every time I see it I immediately think of Hopoate, and then I'm like "We didn't sign him back to the club, did we?"
Nah, that's what I nickname him as.... Most ppl call players Merkins here but i find that offensive as he seems like a nice bloke. Future Eels Captain too

Way better option then the Central Coast. There should never be another new team put in NSW for at least 80-100 years. We need to grow the game not cannibalize it further. My preferred options are Christchurch(because they will have the best indoor stadium in Aus-NZ and thousands will flock to it come rain hail or sunshine as long as the team is somewhat competitive and in time will/should be a powerhouse with all that NRL exposure. Then Perth and then PNG.

The Warriors have been OK, made a few finals over the years and had some pretty shit years as well. Will they have enough resources for 2 teams (other than a stadium with a roof) ?

I'm not sure.

I mentioned PNG being a new market (and catchment) and a new Kiwi team has an existing limited market and catchment so they may have to reply on other Pacific Island countries RU players.

Personally I dont see them being competitive.

I've heard that ( won't mention clubs name) but a very successful side takes their team to higher altitudes. Apparently the air is thinner so harder to breathe which increases fitness. Apparently lots of athletes go to the snowy mountains to train.
Does anyone know if we do similar with our squad?

Successful European football clubs have been doing it for years.

Come on a shoestring budget we have the best we do is send them for a bonding session out to Wisemans ferry for a camp fire and some bedtime stories from T-Baz and Murph.

its been happening since 1968, there is nothing new here

Since the 1968 Olympic Games when the effects of altitude on endurance performance became evident, moderate altitude training ( approximately 2000 to 3000 m) has become popular to improve competition performance both at altitude and sea level.

The NRL season is much longer than the Olympics so any assistance it provides wont last an entire season.

I believe the Panthers have been taking their players to train at the top of Mount Druitt for a while now....

Maybe if souths didn't piss off Eddie Farah who served 17-18 years there as physio but because Latrell was whinging about his calf rehab was punted.

This might have been able to sorted over the off-season.

Different sport with different anaerobic needs, soccer and Vicky kicky have a lot more comsistent running, covering big distances and that’s possibly why they go for high altitude training.

Sports like NRL and NFL are more reliant on short explosive plays, rationally don’t require the same training ( need to remember the year we had some AFL trainer ) .

Telling rugby league players “We need to get high” might not work out the way you had planned.
