We didn't sign any of them last year, so last year's form is irrelevant. You need to look at their form when we signed them. Don't pretend you watched Cini at Wests in 2021, Taumoepenu at Souths (also 2021) and Momoisea at the Knights in 2022. These players all excelled in those years, which is why they are in our top 30. That they were worse in our reserve grade team last year means nothing as far as whether they should've been signed.

In any case, Cini was excellent last year in reserve grade as well. Maybe he can't translate his reserve grade form to NRL performance but you're bullshitting to say he was making up the numbers. He was one of the best outside backs in NSW Cup for tackle breaks and run metres. Given they were good enough when we signed them, I'd say the reason they are getting the rissole is because they are poor trainers, not because they can't play.

I saw a bit of Momo at the Knights and he actually looked like he had some potential. When I heard we had signed him I wasn't unhappy.
When I first saw Cini play for us in Cup in 2022 I was actually pretty impressed. He showed a lot of energy and effort.
For whatever reason both dropped off in 23. Have to be a bit sus on the coaching. Both seemed to lose confidence.

There were a lot of injuries and suspensions last year. They were calling up RM Cup players through the year.
Cayless will definitely be under scrutiny this year with the new batch of young players coming through.
We really are putting our future in his hands this year.
Would have liked to have seen the team list for the trials.

It is if we had top 17 players missing. In round one we had Matterson and Lane unavailable. Doorey started at edge forward (alongside Cartwright) with Momoisea and Murchie on the bench. As soon as Lane and Matterson returned, those backups went back to NSW Cup.

Papali'i was a 22 year old with 60+ NRL games. Momoisea was 24 with 8 NRL games. The former is the profile of a high potential prospect. The latter is just a backup.

TCT are part of 'the media'. Take everything they say with a grain of salt. They're hardly going to put shit on the club or players.

That's up to the players. If they give up then yes, their careers will be over. But there's 17 clubs and not enough NRL players to fill the 510 top 30 slots. There will always be nuffies on full time contracts. Merkins said Jake Arthur would never play NRL anywhere else and they were wrong. Every club needs backups.

The same Zac Cini that we just let go at the end of the season? THAT Zac Cini excelled at "Wests" in 2021?
