Not a real comparison when you consider the concentration of the Melbourne AFL teams around Melbourne's central area and the fact that the non-Melbourne teams have 1 or 2 clubs per city/state only. Makes it easy for fans to get to MCG, Marvel and wherever else. Don't Geelong still play at Cardinia?

West Tigers need to focus on where they see their future growth of supporters coming from. They aren't coming from around Parramatta or Penrith and they aren't the Western Sydney Tigers. They were given South West Sydney as part of their merger and as probably the biggest growth area in housing in Sydney at the moment, they should be petitioning for an decent upgrade to Campbelltown Stadium and getting a decent 20k + stadium there within 3-5 years.
As long as they can get it bigger than suburban ground status. If Penrith can get an upgrade Campbelltown should have no issues.

Yep...and it seems like the leadership players must all have clauses that BA must be coach...it's one big boys club that BA has created. It's starting to stink...
Assuming our leadership group is our five highest paid players including Moses and Brown plus Guth (turning 30), Junior (turning 31), and RCG (turning 31)... then it's really only Moses and Brown that are the future beyond Arthur's tenure.

Interesting they both had those structured contracts with player options every two years - but could it be those were because that pair (turning 24 and turning 30) wanted the choice to escape elsewhere if BA was still the Eels coach come 2026...?

Could be... but Moses has spoken about his positive experience of other coaches like Cheika during the Lebanon games. So I'd expect he's keen to not have the same teacher for all the remaining years in his career? Dylan probably just goes "with the flow", like he usually does on field.

If not for injury I think a Cleary/Moses NSW halves combo was a lock, but with Mitch missing so much footy and Hynes undoubtedly playing well, I think he’s a lock for the 6 in the first game.

not having a single origin rep may be the best thing for us tbh

At least the R&R committee were smart enough to knock back the clause in Lomax's contract that he wanted for BA.

Interesting it says that other players have asked for it and knocked back as well.

Is this a BA initiative to weld more power over the board by getting players to try and put a coaching clause in there contract.
It's just another opportunity for the player to renegotiate salary with the safety of an option up his sleeve. It doesn't mean the player gives a shit about the coach. It might even mean the player/manager expects the coach to move on during the contract.

At present, one is located in a marginal electorate, the other is located in a safer one.

It's the same reason why Townsville and Parramatta get new stadiums, Redcliffe got its ground upgraded not once, but twice, in the last decade, and the Raiders and Newcastle continue to run around in 50 year old stadiums.

Do merkins really vote for governments based on who will promise a stadium upgrade?

I also heard a strong rumour today that Wayne Bennett has knocked back the Rabbitohs and Burgess is squarely in the frame - which is why they signed Lewis Dodd

no one knows anything concrete, but the feeling amongst people who know him is that Bennett wouldn’t mind a shot at parra

Interesting comments from Mannah

BA looks after the captain and leadership team very well, treats them differently to the rest of the squad as when the board wants to see how the coach is going they will always ask the leadership team, who BA is looking after, so it’s always a positive response

There is a clique at the club, always has been if you are in the inner sanctum you are fine. It’s why none of the senior players are dropped no matter how poor their form. No wonder why young blokes seems to struggle when they first come into grade………

Interesting comments for sure avenger posted a video in one of the threads the other day.

In terms of Mannah I find it ironic though. BA kept him in the club 2 or 3 years longer then he should have.

I would have got rid end of him at end of 2015.

He is one of the reasons we continue to have a soft underbelly. Between 2010-2018 as a senior player/captain did he do anything but keep the losing culture around the joint.

He was a toiler at best that I doubt any other club would have given him 200+ games.
