Rumours and Stuff

I don’t think pea-heartedness is the problem with our squad. They are just not suited to the modern game. Our forwards lack mobility. All our defensive issues stem from there and I really don’t think our attack is a problem.

Holbrook and Maguire would get similar results to Arthur, I’m sure. I don’t get the love for Cheika. It would be like the Tigers hiring Alan Jones, only without all the gay jokes.

While Bennett is obviously a better coach than Arthur’s, I doubt it’s as simple as that. Can we afford him? Can we afford the rest of his demands? Does he even want to be involved in a rebuild? If he’s leaving the Dolphins it must mean he wants to win another premiership. I personally think the window for this squad is closed, including 2025.
The way we’ve rolled over when the going gets tough this season is the very essence of peaheartedness as far as I’m concerned.

I also don’t agree that it’s a given that either Holbrook or Madge would get similar results. I’m also not 100% sold on Cheika but it was in the context of our conversation about perceived risk. I think at this point we’re close to rock bottom so we need some kind of change and so I’m open to a more “risky” option.

Most clubs have successful bankers, lawyers and corporate people on their board. Some, but not all, have an ex-footy player as well.
I wonder if these bankers, lawyers and corporate people (or indeed the boards that oversee them) would remain in their positions if they performed how our eels have the last 18 months.

What’s a fair offer?? And a talent like him should have been under and lock and key long ago. It should never have gotten to this stage. But but but the PO was real smart apparently.
Well if Fox Sports are to be believed: “The Eels have tabled a three year deal well in excess of $1 million”.

So we’re talking a minimum of 400k + per season. If that’s not a fair offer for a kid with a handful of first grade games under his belt, I’m not sure what is.

I’d like to keep him. But I won’t be jumping off a bridge if he listens to his manager and goes elsewhere either.

Is he worth more than that to us? No.
Is he worth more than that to a team prepared to pay overs?

Well I agree we're close to the bottom, but I don't see it as a sign that anything has failed. I just think it's a natural part of the premiership window cycle and we'll return to another window in due course, whether we blow the club up or not. These guys got us the last premiership window, they can get us another one. Was the premiership window too narrow or otherwise too shit? I think that's a function of resourcing rather than anything else. Bigger clubs have bigger and more frequent premiership windows. Smaller clubs need lightning to strike.

So Reece Walsh must've suffered an injury against the Roosters, or in training this week after playing them - now ruled out of Magic Weekend, out for just one week at this stage.

Cheers mate but we've already got enough merkins putting shit on the club. We still have a few spots open in our top thirty but we're saving them for some pro level death riders.

Is 18 months the right time frame for judging board members? They are strategic decision makers. I think 18 months is only long enough for judging players.

Serious question though, have we rolled over or simply been out enthused, out paced and hence out played?
I think we've lacked composure. Our completion rate has been a horror show since 2022 and we are a team that needs to control the ball, more than any other.

Nobody ever follows Dylbags or looks otherwise threatening around him when he runs so it’s easy for the defence to just gang up on him, if he had an actual strike centre outside him I dare say his effectiveness goes up.
He’d be more effective if we had a decent hooker. Would get better service and we’d threaten teams more around the ruck giving him more room out wide

Would definitely help, as long as BA is here that's clearly not happening until his son comes through though, and even then it could just be Jake 2.0.

We chase collisions not our own players. It's very obvious they are following instructions. Remeber dunster? Great student
