There's no way a player with his ability, will turn down a golden opportunity to play his preferred position in the top grade at 6 with Penrith, where there is a vacant jersey.

If his road wasn't blocked here, he most probably would have stayed

We were dumb enough to agree to 2 year deal with a player option.

He never wanted to stay here.... should have told him to sign a three year deal or move on back when he was in ball.

His road to the number 6 might be blocked right now but that doesn't mean Dylan still going to be here In 2026. Blaize could have played cup all this year and centre in 25.

But whatever, you asked for essentially a one year deal it tells me you're not that keen on being an eel. We don't need guys like that here.

But where do you play him? Forget about wing and especially fullback as he doesn't have the pace. He's ok at centre, but really he's a 6. Penrith had the 6 vacant so there was little hope he'd wait behind Dylan.

That's bullshit. The club had already said they are not sure his best position. Don't pretend you know what it is.
Can't keep them all.

I'm confident that Penrith will develop Talagi into a borderline elite player, but so far in his career, he's shown nothing to suggest is a must-keep.

He's not a better centre than Lomax, or Penisini.

He's not a better winger than Sivo, or Simonsson.

He's not a better fullback than Gutherson, or Iongi.

And he's not a better 5/8 than Brown.

J.Mclean and C.Mclean is not a better centre than Alamoti or Tago yet was a must keep.
Due to their potential.

We churn out the same bullshit as sTory every time a jnr who looks half decent comes along.

Perhaps the simple answer is, interviewed by Ivan Cleary and Matt Cameron and provided with a clear plan for your future development, then interviewed by the Eels equivalent. End of.

It wasn't a fair fight, doesn't help he played in 4 different positions in his first handful of games. The club had no idea what his best spot was and he has been in our system for how long???

In 2022 he wasnt old enough.

In 2023 he was Captain and 5/8 of Australian Schoolboys.

One year later he played a whole season of 5/8 in NRL without ever playing Jersey Flegg or NSW Cup.
That can't be a good thing for him though. Will be interesting to see if he continues to progress, or if he ends up being Luke Brooks 2.0

So you would have kept him on big dollars, despite the fact he is not anywhere near our best starting 13?

Kid has potential - his "defence" cost us plenty of times this year.

Let someone else pay to develop him.

I've said it for ages - people carry on like he's this indispensable superstar in the making.

The merkin can't tackle to save his life, wouldn't know how to count numbers in defence if his livelihood depended on it, and thinks "bomb defusing" is best reserved for the SWAT team.

I'm talking up his future because of the system he will be playing under, not because of him.

Lomax is three times the player.

You're right. He was never ready for NRL. Yet we decided to blow smoke up his arse whilst not under contract and put him on show. Teams took notice. His form in NSW CUP was average. Nobody was offering him 400k+ Look at Guymer.Untill.his debut nobody took any notice and bang the phones rang.
Untill we let him realise he has a lot of work to do and extended him for 2 yrs on a fair deal he never should of been put on display.
Penrith made sure the Mclean boys where locked up prior. Our management is embarrassing.

Lomax is a great signing. But prior to this year he has been very average. If we get this Lomax I'd be stoked but so often ive seen us sign guys and they go back to being garbage.
I don't get this feeling with Lomax. I reckon he jas turned the corner and matured but till we see him play we won't know.

Ionghi might be a supertar. But who has seen him play? Panthers fans seem to rate him but also say they have their long term prospect for Edwards and is a better option.
Why is everyone convinced he is a gun? I hope he is. They aren't perfect. They signed Tago for 3yrs and he is junk.

Trying to turn Blaize into a fullback and announcing it was the biggest brain fart that BA has had in recent years. Everyone knew that wasn’t his spot. The kid can’t catch a ball to save his life. Iongi can and has consistently and statistically been the best fullback in lower grades and killed it when he made his first grade appearance.

We needed a fullback not a hyped up junior that we could manufacture into one.
