Bro...it's not all about stat's...

I guess you could never identify an upcoming talent since all you look at is past stat's.

I hope we don't have people like you in charge of juniors.
Actually I've 'identified' plenty of upcoming talent, and stats have nothing to do with it. I look at the decisions made by the people paid to sign these guys as well as the ones who select them in various junior grades at particular ages, as well as rep team selections. That's how I knew that Saxon Pryke would be the most likely one to get a contract from the Flegg side when other merkins were carrying on about Latu and Brazel.

It's pointless watching them play because I'm not a talent scout, just like the rest of you merkins. Have a look at how old they are when they get picked in Flegg and reserve grade. Have a look who gets picked in junior Origin teams. This should all help predict who gets full time contracts and who doesn't. Stats are mostly relevant in first grade, with some relevance in reserves.

At this rate Moses is going to have to both put up a bomb and catch it himself.
No...Lomax will catch it and score...heard it here first.
I still think Dylbro has absolutely plenty to offer..
Also apart from still being quite young is always chasing a break...his commitment to defend a try is unparalleled...
Ryles will be good for him as I think unfortunately was too buddy buddy with the previous bloke.
We can't turf everyone

Sure. Newcastle have 2 hookers better than anyone we currently have. And don’t forget they have a gun Jnr hooker coming to them too and he’ll expect to be playing first grade. Crossland is versatile so he stays and Brailey is the odd man out.
When you play 20mins off the bench tackle efficiency is less meaningful. Hands is probably on 200k with a higher ceiling. Id hold out for a better quality hooker. Hopefully Mozer.

"The Eels are emerging as a chance to secure the services of Josh Addo-Carr after he was sacked by the Bulldogs on Thursday.

The Dragons have been mentioned as a new home, but Eels coach Jason Ryles has the link with him from their time in Melbourne. Ryles is after players with speed – something the “Foxx” still has."

Offer too good to refuse for Gutho

The looming signing of Clint Gutherson is a good one for the drama-filled Dragons. Gutherson will bring leadership to the club and it is expected he will be the skipper of the team, following the dramatic departure of former skipper BenHunt on Wednesday.

It will be quite the coup for the Dragons, but, even though there will be denials, they were not at the top of Gutherson’s destination list. However, the Dragons’ offer has been the standout, and Gutherson will bring a never-say-die approach.

Gutherson is a player that players enjoy playing with. That quality is vital as there are some of the Dragons playing group who need convincing the club is going in the right direction.

The signing of another of the game’s good guys, Damien Cook, is also key. Gutherson and Cook will help make up for the loss of their only two Australian representatives, Hunt and Zac Lomax, who will play with Parramatta next season. And, of course, the addition of Valentine Holmes brings speed, class and a quality goalkicker to a club that desperately needs it.

Hunt had a simple message for family and friends following his departure: “Freedom feels good.” Hunt’s management were asked how to resolve the stand-off and they said a contract termination.

This has Anthony Watmough vibes written all over it.
Dragons paying way overs for a guy whose busted his arse off for 10 years but the engine is going break down very quickly.

I don't reckon he wanted to go there the Dragons have got desperate & offered a deal its too good to refuse.

I'm going against the grain here...absolute pelican he, is but I'd give him a chance...
As :
A) don't think he will eff up again
B) still super quick
C) we are still light on outside backs
D) Ryles will annihilate him if he plays up
E) He's not a repeat offender (as far as we know)
F) We'd be able to get him on a reduced value as not many others will be going for him

I hope we go nowhere near the Fox, massive DH.

Melbun got his best years.
Surely when you come in as a new coach and one of the key points you made was creating a culture and realignment of everyone on the same page

JAC is someone he wouldn't touch.

It's basically what the Bulldogs have done in the last 18 months with the culture and JAC spat it back in there faces.

A week of the semi final he shows his a selfish prick.

He has already done it all in the game Premierships, Origin, Australia. I don't think he has the motivation anymore like others to win a comp and it showed 2 months ago.

I don’t have strong opinions, other than the last two years he has played 14, 15 games only. His try strike rate is good, but has age caught up with him ?

JAC I’ve said all along I think he’d be great for us. JAC and Lomax on the wings would completely transform us as a team.

JAC’s cocksure confidence would be an asset for the rookies I think. He’d bring a big level of pump up and status, I think he’d be a player you want to play beside.

Just not be with him outside of the playing arena 😉

With players involved in Pacific championship, season ending injuries and yet to be revealed players will be very interesting to see who is at training tomorrow and more and more players returning before and after Christmas...
I have to say am pretty interested to see how this pre-season plays out for a number of reasons but particularly due to brand new coaching staff..
Just hope no bags get stolen

Has JAC even been that good for the Dogs??? He's also missed a fair bit of footy the last couple of years.
When he's on he's a pretty good player.
Also great for chasing kicks and getting a result...
He knows its his last chance.
The game is all about speed and momentum now.
He fits the bill perfectly. As Stevie mentioned having him on one side and Lomax on the other gives us strike on both sides of the field.
I also hope we do get Ryles trying to use the heights of Lane, Matto and Cartwright for kicks as well..

Couldnt be stuffed posting the actual stats per year, but his run metres / runs have been pretty much the same at the dogs as they were as the storm, 12 or so runs for approx 130m. TB probably around 3 per game dogs and the storm...

Probably the biggest difference is tries, pretty much 20 plus per year Storm, best at the dogs was 16 first year then 11 last 2 years....

So form hasn't really dropped off, and tries scored is probably a reflection of the quality of the side...

Addo carr has had 3 hamstring injuries in the last 4 years.

Including 2 in the past 2 seasons

2021 against Parramatta missed 3 weeks
2023 State of Origin game 3 and missed 4 weeks
2024 against Newcastle and missed 9 weeks

His body is starting to fail him more I think about it. And hamstring issues don't go away

I would be ropeable if we sign him tbh.
