One of my favourite players but the merkin is more trouble than he's worth.

I love the mad merkin but he is now more a liability than anything.

I don't care what he's done. He's a shit player (erratic, gives away penalties and possession, ill-disciplined, over-rated). He's had plenty of chances to improve but hasn't. Bog average. Good excuse to shed him.

Yes if you could get him for those figures sure, great buy. Which Fifita, Sharks or Broncos? If Sharks, they would never release him and I don't think he would want to leave unless something drastic where to happen.

Problem is NRL is keeping him inline. KE may go wild if something isnt. He is best to be part of the strict rules of the nrl till he is in early 30s and matured more.

As a person I feel he could spiral out of control if was able to drink and party as often as wanted. Needs the guidance

But does Parramatta need to be the one to provide it? If we had a good, solid forward pack, but we don't. Edwards would do better as a fringe first grader at Saints or Cronulla.

Sure Klemmer would be a great buy if possible, but it all depends on price. If we were to pay much more then $700k for him, then I don't think he is worth it even if he is in the top 3 frontrower at the moment. There are other frontrowers that I would think are of similar value, Lodge or even his team mate Tevita Pangai Jr that would cost under $700k and still add plenty to our pack.

It may not sound like much but saving $100k here and $100k there does add up and may allow us to get a better balanced squad that can actually compete for the premiership. It may also help us to entice someone like Apisai Koroisau. He would be a massive buy.

If we could get say

Junior Paulo
Matt Lodge
Apisai Koroisau

Then I say our team would be a very, very powerful pack that knows how to use the ball from the ruck to the forwards and then the backs who will have the space and time that at present is very limited when the opposition is serious.

If we need to pay overs for a quality prop, so be it. That (and hooker) is our greatest need.

I am not saying I don't want Klemmer. I am saying if the only way we could get him here is to spend say around $900k full freight on him, then for mine he is too expensive and it will throw out the balance of our squad. I could be wrong, but it seems a couple of hundred to much for a prop when there are other options less expensive but very effective also.

If Klemmer wanted $900k (just a guess) and Paulo is on $650k, that’s a lot of cap space in 2 players. Especially in positions when injuries are more likely to occur.

But we do probably have some juniors that may be able to provide some cheap depth.

It's not that players like him would be less valuable. It would just means players like Alvaro and Moeroa would be more valuable, because you could then use most of your six interchanges on the Paulo/Klemmer types. The rest of your forwards would play one stint of 50-80 minutes, if they could. We have plenty of those.
