It's not that they can't work it out, it's that they prioritise some years over others, the idea being to build a premiership window. If they were happy to finish mid-table every year they could do that, but they want a premiership. And besides, when the premiership window closes it will probably be some other coach's problem.
Yeah I understand all that but no club will ever touch Des again

Sure but it's because his reputation is f**ked, not because he's forgotten how to coach.
Yeah it Sure is. Not sure about how many ideas he has left though, the prop at 1st receiver style wasn’t adopted elsewhere.
Hated watching the dogs in recent year (always hated them lol)

If we sign Brock Lamb then I join the Brad Arthur has officially lost the plot party.

Our halves have been shit this year, but no point axing them unless there is someone better to replace them.

We have Salmon and Brown coming through hopefully they keep progressing and put pressure on Norman/Moses

the trouble is if we keep norman and moses on top coin will we be unable to match offers and end up losing salmon and brown?

I still maintain that if Norman and/or Moses aren't our halves next year that we already have our next ones already at the club. Doesn't mean we can't sign Lamb as a back-up, but why would he come here for that?

If one of the young halves in the club does emerge to own a first grade spot (no guarantee) we want any other options to not be on so much money that it hurts us to have that money sitting in reserve grade. Lamb is a better option there than Norman.

Oaf mate, and bloody well did. Got myself a bunch of vegies and a beautiful leg of lamb, so I hope our recruitment guys have changed their minds on getting him cos he ain't gunna be much chop in the running department from here on in.

Isn't that what the Panthers have done? Under Gould they are:

2012: 15th
2013: 10th
2014: 4th
2015: 11th
2016: 6th
2017: 7th

They have lost plenty of decent (or at least talented) players in that time:

Austin
Cartwright
Coote
Gordon
Grant
Hiku
Idris
Mennings
Rennings
Kingston
Kite
Koroisau
Lewis
Martin
Moylan
Naiqama
Roberts
Segeyaro
Soward
Taylor

And this year they have lost talent but replaced them with better attitudes and going just as well. That's what we need to do. Get rid of shit attitudes and replace them with better ones. You can't desperately cling to talent and let them take you for a ride. It's a team game. If you lose a strength in one area you just adjust and play to a strength in another area.

We're only committed to Norman for another season. Which means that even if Salmon or Brown turn into Kalyn Ponga in 2019, we've got Normans money to give them for 2020.

Plus Norman would be easy to offload mid 2019 if he's no longer required.

Like I've said plenty of times, getting rid of Norman is the key step going forward. It's not about freeing cap space or even giving opportunities to others. It is about removing his influence.
