Bellamy won one, we got flogged in one. Bit of a difference.

Did he win because of his bench usage or because he has better players? Bellamy has a better team than most clubs, every single year. For example, the unused player he had on his grand final bench left and won the Dally M. They have the best record in the NRL era because they have the best recruitment.

Did you watch The Matts Hindy? Big prop Ocean goes good. The other prop looked ok as well. A half decent team. One very quick winger too.
I was a bit disappointed with The Ball. Young Arthur looks a reasonable prospect even allowing for some God awful plays. At times hes a bit too quick between the ears for his own good i reckon. Needs time if hes afforded it but theres a footy player there. Parry is a big kid. Looks impressive.

We've heard it all before, Very few actually turn out and even fewer actually stay to be part of our NRL squad. Something is wrong in the joint and we seem to be just treading water. For starters, most of our best players only want to stay if they can extract the highest possible dollar out of our club. That alone makes it almost impossible to create and maintain a premiership capable winning roster long enough to in the damned thing.

For all the self hype and praise our clubs management keeps feeding us, we still can't compete with the big boys in the corporate(real) world. But it also says a lot about the coach and his pulling power to be able to get the 50/50's over the line and come to our club. We as a club just don't get it. The right coach in the modern game has to be the best league of recruiters too. Ours is middle of the road to slightly above average. Players don't come here because the think that they will get a footy education. They come for an opportunity, a fair coach in his treatment and truth to players, for the money and at present to play at a decent team. But after nearly 4 decades of diddly squat in the trophy department, they have very little expectations of a GF ring, especially when we persist with middle of the road albeit hard working coaches.

If the grass looks greener somewhere else even slightly, when almost everything is on par, very few quality players choose us unless we pay for it handsomely. Look no further then the last to established front rowers that we tried recruiting in Lodge and Taupau who both opted at the 11th hour to go elsewhere. We just don't have a high quality recruitment closer at the club. This and our inability to develop quality NRL junior consistently and retain them is now looming ever so conspicuously over our heads.

I’d say it was a it of both, Maka is no world beater but he’s fairly mobile and a decent middle defender. Mummaiasoa is a park footballer.

We have a better NRL-era record than most clubs, including a few that have won premierships in that time. We have just been unlucky. If you can make a grand final you can win it. In fact you should expect to win about half your grand finals. We have made three grand finals in the NRL era so we might've expected to win one or two of them. But three is a very small sample. If you flipped a coin three times and it came up tails each time you wouldn't think the coin is faulty. At least I hope you wouldn't, for your sake.

Every club has reserve graders. Not even the Storm can fit 30 NRL players under the cap.

He's not top 17 until Matterson and Lane are out. Even so, for what we likely paid I reckon we have backed ourselves to get value out of him. Even if its just to put pressure on Carty.

I watched him last year for Newcastle and thought he looked average, I’d rather a talent like Matale with the top 30 spot. A development contract is about all Mummamiasia is worth.
