I also don't get when people on here say BA doesn't sign players and just gets what's given. If that's the case then I am worried. Id expect players and roster is all included on what the coach think we need and what's priority.

A- Him being old and injury prone
B - Him not getting injured but just never getting back as was already in decline.

Excellent post - agree wholeheartedly. We dismally failed in our recruitment, as we failed to recruit any real hooker (and a LOT of people knew this at the time of signing) and we are horribly short a bench prop and two competent three-quarters (at least).

I actually think this is a big chance of happening now. They're really the only other club in the NRL who would be interested in Brooks at anything that resembles decent coin.

Exactly. BA would be the lead on everything Eels, particularly the top 30, bar what players are paid and even then his input would be substantial. After 10 years his fingerprints are on everything.

We as supporters including me, but not Pou or Gronk, were scratching our heads from the moment we signed Hodgson and were lamenting the decision especially since there were definitely way better candidates on the market then him that were available.

Our clubs coaching staff and recruit and retention committee have totally ballsed it all up. We are amateur fans who saw this train wreck coming so how the hell did they not? It wasn't all that hard. It wasn't like we had quality players that have lost form for whatever reason as sometimes happens and the team suffers because of it. These deficiencies were/are brighter then the sun for all to see. Then we chose to fix them with nobodies and a broken down geriatric.

We are a joke. I doubt that they will even know how to address it for next season let alone this. Glacier and Potato head will make sure of it.

I wish our club had the balls to sack Potato Head right now and insert Flanagan. The man is a talent no matter what people think of him and he is the sort of coach that can run the whole show from juniors to NRL and he is now a media guy which can only be of benefit as well and the Fox team at the very least will treat us much better for it, especially derps like Ennis.

We should never have extended the potato head again. I just can't believe how we have squandered our premiership window like this. I feel so deflated. This club just can not get things right. I basically have stopped watch us play. All I ever do now is just forward our games to the end. Then switch off. Thanks Potato Head and Parra management you really know how to treat your fans. But obviously management couldn't give a toss as long as they can string enough people along to keep turning up, Potato Head is safe. So in other words Potato Head is safe till the end of his contract.

Thank God for the Dolphins this season. They shame our clubs management big time. Fins Up!!

Great post but fk the fins. I care about Parra. All others can eff themselves.

Well, sadly lads, I'm considering that the 23 season is over. We are really lacking a good centre, winger, and prop. All the signings except Doorey and Hopgood have been awful. The recruitment team should honestly be sacked. Next year we should go hard for Averillo he'll be squeezed out of dogs, and we should go after Billy Smith from the Roosters he's a very talented player who just has had bad luck with injuries. A backline of:
1. Gutherson 2. Sivo 3. Averillo 4. Penisini 5. Smith
Looks a lot stronger than what we have this year.
And I've said before I think Blacker or Baker would be a perfect bench prop for us they are both very players that just need a consistent opportunity.

The coach thinks so and he wants to win games as much as you do. I’d say he has more riding on it.

So I heard on the radio before we are after a prop and BA said we ain't gonna just sign anyone. It has to be for this year and 2 years after that. Paraphrasing.
My concern is we obviously low balled Klemmer and Taupau and couldn't get them. So now we are probably after someone who is somewhat disgruntled at their current club. I don't think we can dangle the carrot to come and play for a title. We may not even make the 8 the way we are going.
I wouldn't be against signing 1 of the following bit feel we need an established seasoned prop/lock to cover for RCG absence and Paulo impending Origin absence.

A good hooker running around with some NRL experience is Tyson Smoothy as well.
I would also be looking at the Feagai brother currently in reserves as a winger option as he's not bad at all and in truth better than what we have.
Definitely be making enquiries on Kayal Iro as well. Stay in reserve grade or walk into Parra 1st grade....

Like this but not keen on Billy Smith as yes he can play but massive risk.
I'm sure we'll I hope O'Neil is ringing all the managers and seeking a prop, wing, centre and hooker. 3 must come this season. Otherwise as well as the clean out of players and 3/4 of the reserve grade team anyone involved in recruitment and retention must do the honourable thing and piss off for incompetency
