Good on Knights mgmt for not just jumping in and extending him. Yes they are playing well over the past month, and yes they took out a big scalp in the Storm, but apart from that, are wins v Tigers, Dogs and Raiders grounds for AOB's mgmt to go agitating for an extension? They're not even in the 8 or guaranteed of playing Finals, yet his mgmt seem to think he's hot shit... I guess it's his agents job but really, AOB needs a few more runs on the board I reckon...

Penisini, Sivo and Simonsson would all be on top 17 money. And Russell has proven he is up to first grade, so we might be intending to use him as first choice. In that case we might only be looking at backups to round out the 2024 squad. I really doubt there’s a lot of cap space this close to November.
What do you reckon they are doing with Blake’s deal and the pending medical retirement of Hodgson. Also there are players like Ogden and a raft of other forwards that won’t be offered deals.

Besides Greig and Cartwright the rest can go. I reckon we will have at least $500k to play with for an outside back. Plenty more on contract should be tapped on the shoulder. Loizou is one that is taking a top 30 spot plus we only have 29 for this year.

Not signing Blake for 2024 - i.e. there is no deal, he will be unemployed after 31 October.

Hodgson is down to the NRL assessing paperwork - it may have already happened, or we've spent whatever remained in 2023 cap (and betting on some 2024/2025 room) on Lussick? Though we could get a small windfall in refunded 2023 cap if have of Hodgson's 2023 contract is deemed not to count - in which case our best bet is probably to bring some 2024 money forward for a player or two, to give us more room in next season's cap (for more of BA's late notice bargain buys).

2 years max for Cartwright, and 2 years plus club option Emu. Take it or leave it deals.

Maybe there's merit in a year by year deal for Cartwright, as he definitely upped his game this year playing for his future (with us or elsewhere). More of the same next year would be great.

Flanno has already said that he wants Carty, so offering him a 1 year deal is not going to get you a signature.

Anyway, IIRC the Carty conversation is moot, cos it's already be said that he's agreed, just can't sign because we don't know what the 2024/25 cap is.

And if you were a Newcastle fan you’d find a way to polish that turd too.
Criticising your choice of scapegoat isn’t the same as talking the merkin up. Newcastle is a weak club and it’s difficult to achieve anything up there. That doesn’t say anything about O’Brien other than that he’s not a miracle worker.

According to you we are down there too. We have no money and money wins premierships so according to your circular logic Brad Arthur isn’t one either. So using that logic we should sack him because he hasn’t won a f**king grand final in the 10 years he’s been here.

Works both ways, roundabout boy.
