Let's be honest...cotric, Savage and Schiller are all truckloads better than the next in line we have...Dunster, lumelume and Cini...
Half the season already paid for by roiders...I'd take any of those in a heartbeat. Any more backs injuries or suspensions and we are farrrrkkeddd

^^ wow some yank is going to buy a NRL team ?

Not so fast. He was just being f**king polite !

"Would we take a look? Absolutely."

I don't think some clubs are able to be privatised unless it's voted in by the members.

Parra would be one of those I assume.

With all the constitutional changes Max Donnelly brought in. I don't even think we would ever be an option unless we were in financial ruin and the leagues club could no longer fund the club.

They can buy the League's club then own the NRL club 👌

Pretty sure Leagues clubs/rsl clubs ect. Don’t have owners/shareholders . They are not for profit member based and have elected people to run the club and assets.

Nrl clubs arent the cash cow nfl clubs are
Exactly. But the money they’d drop into an NRL club would be chicken feed for them but have a huge impact on us. Hell, most of their players earn more then what they’d need to tip in annually to put us in the top end!
I can just see our 600k on paper 4mill per 3rd party sponsored superstars doing a voiceover for Walmart once a year!

Rodwell

————-8<————

I think the player wants to come but I’m leaving it a little bit with Steve Mills. He’s been identified as a player that Mills and Daryl (Powell, Trinity head coach) are excited about, and we’re trying our best to get him over.

“I think the NRL salary cap rules are sort of meaning that probably a deal, if it’s going to happen, it’ll be done in a couple of weeks because obviously he’s got a window where he can join which I think is the end of April.

“We’re trying to get him over 100 per cent. Millsy is confident that the player wants to come but it’s just about the club over there agreeing.”

Rodwell, who can play at prop or loose forward, has made five appearances for Parramatta since debuting for the Eels back in 2021.

Top 30 "spots":

For what it is worth, a player takes a top 30 spot if they are one of the 30 highest paid players at the club. There aren't allocated roster spots that get filled.
There is a minimum spend (97.5% of the cap) and a maximum total spend (the whole cap plus various allowances).
Clubs must have 24 players paid minimum wage (130k) or over at the first Monday in November (the year prior), therefore comprising the top 30.
On the first Monday in March, that number must be 28. By the end of June, that number must be 30.

Top 30 players can seek a release if dropped below cup level.

The issue is the 2nd tier cap (supplementary players).
650k for minimum 4, maximum 6 players (the least they can earn is 80k). So if we were to make another signing, we would need room to shuffle someone back to this tier.

To my understanding we have cash available (ie we are compliant at 97.5%+ spent, but have wiggle room with allowances that could be counted towards existing players leaving us no small amount of $ for an upgrade), but may have overcooked our 2nd tier cap already..... at least they are trying to make up for certain players signed last year, but those guys got too much $$ to consider walking, even if they play lower than state cup....

I assume this will be sorted out in a couple of weeks.

I can't see the club wasting a spot on Rodwell when another club is happy to take him off our books and by the sounds of it wants to go over.

That is a major part of our problem.

Privatisation provides more incentive for sustained success.

One thing you can't teach is speed. He scored a ripper of a try against us the night we pumped them big time at Commbank in the finals of 22

Fairly sure you can teach speed btw. He did score a good try against us though i think we had already wrapped up the game and some players clocked off..
