While I appreciate that isn't ideal, that bench is still not terrible...
Obviously in your scenario, if with RCG and Paulo are out, we are pretty screwed anyway.... any team that loses it's most significant 2 forwards will struggle to replace them with depth.

The counter argument is that if all are fit, then we are capping our potential without a strike outside back. Ie, the spend ratios are just off...

I'm not arguing for Lomax at 800k BTW!! But I do think Matto may be surplus to requirements.
Last year, it was Lane and RCG.

SO offa/greig comes on for RCG and maybe Kelma or Matto for Lane

The great Lumelume I don't think he was a development player? I think we had to ask for him to be able to play?
And the NRL said yes despite us having a top 30 player (Loizou) in reserve grade. The NRL don't care. They want clubs picking their best team available every week.

So, are you suggesting the Eels aren’t a big club. Most stats would dispute that.
The most important metrics support it 100%
When the committee is extremely cautious and conservative, as ours appear to be, then that becomes a problem.
No, when a single bloke gets to go Christmas shopping with the salary cap, Hasler-style, it becomes a problem. You never run into cap trouble by missing out on a player. And not making the finals one year in five isn't the disaster you think it is.

This is the backline that ran second in 2022:

1. Gutherson
2. Sivo
3. Penisini
4. Simonsson
5. Blake
6. Brown
7. Moses

It's a decent backline, and the kind of backline you'd expect in a club that has committed a lot of the salary cap to its forward pack. You can't have everything. If we'd spent less on forwards, merkins would be whinging about that instead. Just f**king relax and enjoy the footy. JUST F**KING RELAX FFS!!!
They should be solving the issue, not looking like they are surrendering to it.

Pou, no need to argue everything that is posted, just accept someone else has an opinion.
You need to stop arguing with me ffs

HIndy had a little bird that they said they wanted someone better than Topou
Topou is all class and would be an asset to the juniors rather then a blockage.
I dont think Lomax is bad but as his stats prove he is very overrated and Flanno knows it.

That’s true, then again they haven’t signed anyone of note, seems that the days of off season excitement and healthy discussion are gone under the current admin. Very bland, which may have been necessary after the debacle of the previous board, time to be aggressive
now.
Do you think we have a weak team? Merkins pissed their knickers over missing the eight last year so obviously our team is good enough to expect more wins than losses. If we do have a strong team then why would you expect us to be able to strengthen it further? The salary cap means you don't get to keep adding stars to a strong roster every year. When we sucked we had room in the cap to bring in high-demand players like Moses, Paulo, Ferguson, RCG and Matterson. Now we don't, and so our signings are relatively cheap, low-demand players like Simonsson, Papali'i, Opacic, Hodgson, Harper and Tuilagi.

Basically, the quality of recruits is inversely related to the strength of the existing squad. It's just physics ffs

I agree.

We wouldnt be on as much as Lomax, he will ruck it out, be safe, good under the high ball and finish off the backline.

He's older and so in a couple of years, a juniour steps up, he will not be blocking him

Gutho reckons it's a f**king great squad.

It's not the best squad but it's certainly good enough. Even the favourites are paying $3.75 so the market thinks they (Penrith) are far more likely to not win the premiership than they are to win it.

Anyway I just backed Parra at $23. It might be the best odds we get all year.

If you're going to have an opinion at least back it up with some facts hey
You said during your turd polishing workshop in 2023 that we are a mid tier club but the media are now calling us a powerhouse. I always said we were a sleeping giant.

So what do you think today? Can you see why people don’t take you seriously? Even when you put the Caps Lock and act tough most shake their heads and laugh.

Nobody trolls their own forum like you and when you are exposed like our famous forum chicken 🇵🇹 you have a big sook and announce publicly that you have us all on ignore.

But you really don’t because reactions like this one is what you crave.

I took Manly at $31 - 3mths ago. Penrith have lost to many talented kids. If they got the 4 peat under the salary cap years after having over 25 players taken from them then it goes down as one of the biggest sporting achievements in the history of sport one would think.
Do you remember 7yrs ago when I told everyone I here they are building a powerhouse

No we can't. That is just speculation and a lot of wishful thinking. Our junior development has definitely disappointed and let us down way more than not over many years and until we start to actually churn out regular NRL standard and the occasional rep quality players, nothing has changed for me.

So again convince me and everyone else here that has massive doubts about trading a proven quality player for a hot and cold self serving ego driven, entitled and disruptive spoilt brat. Especially if I were to go down this path I would be looking at trading say Offa who is still quality enough and a good experienced role model leader type that clubs like the Dragons would benefit from, but would not really weaken our forward power at all.

That is how you get value for your club. Not by weakening one area to strengthen another. Our team is based on and almost totally relies on the power game and removing one of our main arsenals in that area will not do us any favours especially over a long season and the way Potato Head doesn't seem to learn from his mistakes and burns them out the way he does.

Offa would be less of a loss and we probably would be able to cover his loss with what we have coming through way more easily than our very own special Princess.

Just my to bobs worth.

Just when I think this forums turned to shit I read a post like this and makes me
want to CUM back.

Good side. Top 4 imo.
I'd rather Joe O's money and have Morretti there and use it to have a quality back.
In saying that if Blayze develops quicker then expected all this conversation is forgotten.
SIVO,BLAZE,WILL,RUSSELL with Morgan and Simmo as back ups. As back ups they are top shelf.( Just not as starters )

You say a lot of dumb shit, just like TheRam. Some of it is bound to come true eventually. It's the same logic behind me putting a couple of Doge coins on the Eels every year.
