The merkin didn’t take up his option, surely we give him a cheap 1 year deal wiry maybe an option our our favour. He’s not bargaining from a position of strength.
Did we offer Bailey an option? Wasn't aware of that. Either way, the ACL isn't necessarily a reason to not offer him a decent extension. Been one of our most consistent outside backs for what we paid him.

In that case we have two of four starting outside backs unavailable this year. As for last night’s performance, we also had Moses missing from our right edge, and Drown therefore missing from the left. Harper is a better defender than Talagi and he was available for selection.

As usual you are whinging about a problem out of our control (injuries) and making out about your pet hate Mark O’Neill.
You are properly f**ked in the head. “Harper is a better defender than Talagi, blame Barrett for not picking him”. No, I blame whoever it was who gave Harper a squad spot this season and paid him a salary, because he sure as shit didn’t deserve it. Absolute merkin of a footballer.

Our left edge of Asi, Talagi and Tago are really stretching it playing NRL, their spacing and speed in defence was exposed in that last 10 minutes. Dylbro played on the right and that was evident with that side remained solid.

Simmonson would have been a big positive last night, but again the failure of the genius in recruitment to actually sign backline players was exposed. The forwards did their job again.Seemed like the ref got on the let’s watch the comeback rather than see the fairly obvious infractions.

The Panfers toothless morons come on here to gloat when they played a team minus 11 players and forced to play part timers, and they probably wonder why they are regarded as smug dickheads.

As I pointed out in another thread we where missing 2-3 players who make a huge difference in Moses, Hopgood and Jnr.
Sivo,Simmonson yeah they improve us a bit. Not a whole lot.
Kelma yeah again little.
They look had 5 of their top 17 out in Almoti,Edwards,JFH,Garner and Sorrenson who lasted 8 mins. But we matched them. I dont think they where at best but at sametime we had a good attitude. Amd had a dig

We choked simple. But a possitive is we have been in every game just about since BARRETT took over. Are we as far away as we feel? I don't think so.
I felt we where more like a 2026 side but I've seen enough to suggest adding Lomax and perhaps Guymer and Brazel coming good and we could be back in the finals.
I'd like another back and would love to see how B.Hands goes under a good forward pack. He is getting better and better.

Just go have a look at the riffs depth answer your question pretty easily..

Start of the year they had May and Tago at centre. Had McLean last night as well as Alomoti.

Fullback they have used 3 Merkins this year.
If you think Talagi was bad, McLean got absolutely destroyed last night. He was a total passenger, but because his team mates are so good he still won. Alamoti is also useless in defence. But when your defensive middle is so strong you can cover a weak edge defender.

100% he gambled on not signing sooner should only be getting a 1 year contract at best.

Didn't learn a thing with Dunster
We signed Dunster before his ACL/PCL/MCL injury, so the price will reflect his injury history at the time. The next contract with Simonsson will include the ACL as a factor. He will be much cheaper than if we had signed him before the injury, especially if we're offering multiple years.

That's why it's most likely a cheap three year deal. He will be 29 at the end of it, and grateful for the lifeline. There will be much less demand for him than there was in May.

So all depth players are of equal talent???
Backups at that level, yes pretty much. If you had to give them an extremely granular player rating out of say, 1000, then no they won't be exactly equal. But if you had to rate them out of five then yes, the players at the bottom of the top 30 are all about equal with the best hundred players outside the top 30. Think of player talent distribution as a bell curve. Professional rugby league is elite, so even the worst players to ever run onto an NRL field are still distributed to the right of the bell's midline (the mean). This means there are fewer top end players at the absolute right hand tail of the talent distribution, while the majority of NRL backups are in the wider pool of talent closer to the mean. At that level the backup-level nuffies are numerous and interchangeable, which is why you have clubs like ours without 30 players in the top 30, but have still used 30 players in first grade.

FFS, it's not up to Isaac or Mitchell to decide if he sees out his current contract. It is up to the club to agree to release him from his legally binding contract, if he requests it.
Exactly. There is more chance of me going on a float at the next Mardi Gras than Moses being allowed to leave.

This is all a ploy for more money with a renegotiation of his current deal, nothing else.

each NRL roster can be negatively or positively skewed when compared to the standard distribution of NRL playing talent. Parramatta not having a complete top 30 would mean they would have to reach to places like Flegg elegible and RMC players which typically would be - 2 to even - 3 standard deviations from the mean. are the panthers, storm, roosters etc reaching for these players?

Have a look at some of the backups who have made NRL appearances for these teams. McLean was garbage for Penrith last night, while the Storm have had 7 games from Bradley and Garlick. Ethan King and Zach Dockar-Clay have played first grade for the Roosters this year. All nuffies.
