If his other option is to remain where he is, sure. But it also depends on how much demand there is for the bloke already in Sydney. I’m not sure they are as good as each other. Anecdotally, I’ve known about Hawkins for years, whereas I only heard of this other merkin recently.

Not sure who is better, but Hawkins is 26 next year. He has 14 nrl games and didn't debut until he was 22 (played 3 games that year).

Weaver is still 21 and has 6 NRL games. He debuted at 20 (3 games that year).

The push for Isaiah Iongi to wear the No. 1 jumper seems to be the rumour going around atm but I can't see Gutho going anywhere else but centre or possibly a ball playing/roaming type lock but his age and his injuries might not allow this. Certainly not a 9 as it's been suggested...surely not??

It also appears that the fullback stocks are healthy with another young gun, Te Hurinui Twidle, pressing for a development contract in 2026. He'll apparently train with the big boys next year.

He’s been told to look elsewhere from the Rabbits who have signed Lewis Dodd on a large contract from St Helens, whilst also having Cody walker and Jack Wighton who just won their player of the year after playing majority of the season at 6. Wighton will be their centre next year but he’s next man up to the halves. Don’t also forget that they have Jye Gray who would probably be able to play 6, or they move Latrell to 6 and Gray to 1 if injuries occur. Illias is as good as gone from the rabbits and will not see any time in first grade. The problem going after him is his contract, which for us to be interested we would have to have the rabbits chip in significantly. I can’t see us going after him, even if he is definitely on the outer. I’d expect him to maybe land at the Knights or even the roosters as backup half now walker will miss most of next season.

Actually most of the talk has been about Pezet going to the Knights, so in that case I’d expect Illias to go to the storm to be their backup. Being an Anasta client, who has Munster, it makes sense
