Completely agree. It is absolutely incredible the leeway Melbourne get in the ruck. Players holding on… laying in the path of the play the ball… slightly off to the side. It slows it down only minutely but it absolutely counts at that level.

Grossly backending by huge sums (like say $100k in the first year and then $500k in the second) isn’t allowed, but teams can slightly backend contracts if it’s for a relatively small amount.
