It's amazing some of the stories seeping out now about Baldie, @King-Gutho94 next we will be hearing about the side training at half pace........
No wonder PVL has told the Western Bears there business case wasn't good enough.

They probably sold the commission they had BA signed up for a 5 year contract as the head coach and he has gone you are kidding yourselves.

How did Baldie last 11 years???? It's astounding how he hoodwinked the powers that be for so long. I know you will find plenty of posts from me over the years i can't believe we are wasting our premiership window on such a plodder.

Sounds like we have had a Bush Coach for 11 years.

Played with a pub team mentality and it showed at times.

My early prediction for next year is Ryles will show up what a fraud BA truly was and what a genuine waste of a premiership window we had between 2019-2022.

That extra 10% of preparation and attention to detail could have been all the difference to winning a premiership.
I reckon Barrett already showed up the fraud....he got the team playing consistently and looked better coached despite having a borderline reserve grade side when he took over..

I agree we should have beaten the Dogs and Penrith.

We had Broncos 18-0 down after 20 mins and only some stupidity from a few players let them off the hook.

We led the Chooks with 10 mins to go at home and Knights we gave up 2 tries through intercepts which cost us the game.

Considering Baz had a depleted squad for those last 8-10 games.

We.put ourselves into a position to win another 4 or 5 games that we had no right to win.

Tbh I’ve heard a lot on here go on and on that we are just not in the same level fitness wise and I’ve never really bought into it.

This person said they absolutely had 1 big day. But it was 5 hour day still and a lot of the other days were “light”. It essentially sounds like they were then free for the day.

With this 6 day a week LONG day schedule, apparently it’s about being “club first”, being around the club and whilst you are not doing push ups for 12 hours, you are learning, working together.

Oh, and I also got told all must do 2 weeks in the community labouring etc. But it’s a genuine working your ass off. I’m sure we’ll see the stories as it unfolds.

Of course we won’t know for a while, but Ryles seems night and day in standards and culture over his predecessor.
Don’t forget this isn’t the military, where merkins can go to prison if they refuse to do what they’re told. The NRL is a modern workplace where the players have massive power, and the clubs (including the coaches) want to keep them happy. This is why we hear about senior players driving standards: https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nr...l/news-story/2cc37766fe3854599cc08fb613d442a3

The coach isn’t the one out there getting smashed in long conditioning sessions. It’s the players who need to buy into that, and the senior players who need to set the example. You can tell them all you want that they will get flogged from six in the morning to six at night but if they don’t want to do it they will do the bare minimum to stay employed. The merkins will malinger and fake injuries and so on. Which makes it somewhat like the military I guess.

Good to know you’re happy with management’s ability to assemble a quality squad.

I’m not sure how you can take my info and put a negative spin on it.

I think I said they aren’t getting smashed 12 hours a day, but it’s not a part time gig either.

I can only assume he is trying to set attitudes to be team first. If players aren’t physically doing much each day, how can you expect much? You reckon Nathan Cleary does 2.5 hours one day in pre season and f**ks off?

You can try to make an argument out of this if you like but I’m just sharing info as I found it super interesting and I assumed the rest of you would too.

If you want to pick it apart, go for it.

Have you seen how ripped most of the panther players are?

No Chance Clearly does 2.5 hours he probably puts in long days training reviewing video training..

Might be why they are on track for 5 in a row....

Thought you guys might like some feedback I had yesterday.

So I was at Grand Final day yesterday with a Parra employee (close family friend) and we had a discussion about Ryles and a few things.

Their feedback was that “the players are about to get the shock of their life in regard to fitness and pre season”.

They told me that last year as an example, our pre season was 4-4.5 days a week, quite a few of those days were 2-3 hour days. They could be required on a Tuesday from 9-11.30am for example.

This person said most in the club have seen the schedule with Ryles and it’s going from 3-4 or 4.5 a few hours a day (minus one big day) to Monday-Satu6am to 6pm.

There’s been a lot of comments in the club saying it will be night and day in terms of preparation and professionalism.

Feedback on Ryles across the club is he is an excellent communicator and is extremely clear on his vision, not something BA ever demonstrated except to those he was close to.

They also said a comment that “everyone in the club respects Gutho but the blokes body is absolutely broken and hung together by tape”.

They said lots of other things but the preseason and preparation thing stood out to me.

Cheers.

Edit (Monday to Saturday sorry)
Tell us more Stevie. Love hearing about Ryles vision. 🙂

So pre- season schedules, fitness and conditioning weren’t the coach’s responsibility either….

Where’s the negative spin? You mean blaming our players?
I think I said they aren’t getting smashed 12 hours a day, but it’s not a part time gig either.
Either way, they will be forced to hang around the squad instead of pursuing their ‘work/life balance’ which all the deadshits love to trot out instead of working hard.

I know that a 12 hour work day is a lot more tiring than 8 hours, even though all I’m doing is sitting on my bum in front of a computer. Going home and sitting on my bum doing stuff I want to do (arguing with you merkins) is what refills my tank. If I work a long day I feel how you blokes must feel after I disagree with one of your posts.
I can only assume he is trying to set attitudes to be team first. If players aren’t physically doing much each day, how can you expect much? You reckon Nathan Cleary does 2.5 hours one day in pre season and f**ks off?
No I don’t. But I also think Cleary is self motivated and doesn’t work hard just because his coach/dad tells him to.
You can try to make an argument out of this if you like but I’m just sharing info as I found it super interesting and I assumed the rest of you would too.
I did find it interesting. I gave you a like didn’t I?
If you want to pick it apart, go for it.
I’m just trying to get my point across. The coach needs the support of senior players. Maybe it’ll be easier when he’s not their mate? Let’s hope so anyway. I’m looking forward to 2025. It’s very exciting.
