Not a hope in hell. Fine, further licence suspension and at worst some community service. Jails are full and to my knowledge he’s got no previous. Certainly nothing I’ve read insinuating he did. You’ve got proper crooks breaking into houses not seeing the tin these days.

Ezra Mam traffic accident left girl with broken hip, seatbelt burns

The footballer’s manager said Mam was experiencing “personal challenges” but the family left injured in the crash said he should be held to a higher standard.

The mother injured when her Uber was involved in a traffic accident with a vehicle driven by Broncos star Ezra Mam has broken her silence, saying her family has been traumatised by the incident.
The woman said she and her four-year-old daughter were hospitalised after the accident in Brisbane’s west on Friday.
“She has a fractured hip... she has really bad burns from the friction of the seatbelt,” the woman told Nine News.
Mam was allegedly driving unlicensed and under the influence of drugs. Police were on Monday awaiting the results of blood tests, while the NRL integrity unit and the Brisbane Broncos considered Mam’s playing future.

“I can remember looking up and straight away, I’ve seen this car veer straight in front of us. I knew what was going to come next,” the woman said.
“I also remember saying ‘I need to get out, I can’t breathe’. The Uber driver hopped out of the vehicle ... to let us out ... the door was jammed, it wouldn’t open.”

Critical of the media focus on Mam – “there’s not one thing mentioned about my Uber driver or us” – the woman spoke out to make it clear “the impact it’s had on my family”.
The woman had been contacted by Broncos boss Dave Donaghy, who she said was “nice”, but she had not heard from Mam.
After the interview aired, Mam’s manager, Nash Dawson, released a statement saying “Ezra is extremely remorseful” and concerned for the others involved in the accident.


“He acknowledges he’s facing some personal challenges and, following these recent events, has taken a proactive step by seeking immediate professional treatment,” the statement said.
The mother’s family released a statement of their own, in part directed at Mam.
“Your life in football has given you many opportunities and rewards to go with that,” the family said.
“But it also means you are required to show your appreciation for the privilege of playing your game by being that much more responsible.”

Donaghy had earlier told 4BC the Broncos had cultural issues that needed to be addressed, separate to whatever decision would be made about Mam’s future.
“Unfortunately, it appears that he’s lost his way of late, so you know that could be the traps of this industry,” Donaghy said.
“He’s a young man, he’s a 21-year-old.”

Agree but this immediate checking into a rehab is damage control by the broncos. They know if they lose their 5/8th on top of having a halfback who is injured at least 50% of the year - their first year under Maguire will be doomed to fail and the promises of a bright future post-Walters dissipates, and with it does membership, sponsors and public sentiment in a one team town.

the broncos will argue his voluntary admission to rehab is the biggest sign of remorse and accountability that could be taken, so therefore his punishment being an extended amount of absence from the game does nothing to help rehab a young player who is remorseful of his mistake and seeking treatment to be a better person and will result in further mental health issues which is he working to overcome blah blah

he’ll get 4 weeks tops, $100k fine with $50k suspended

He was unlicensed, allegedly high and he’s hit another car and injured people. What the Broncos want or do shouldn’t come into it.

If all he gets is 4 weeks and a BS fine the rest of the NRL should revolt and rightly so.

Yeah, I'm not so sure on this one.
Now that we've found out a child was injured (a broken hip is an incredibly painful injury) from his stupidity, plus the mother speaking out in the media, there will be a considerable punishment I think (and hope).

PVL hates bad press. He can't stand looking bad.
Hip fractures can take months to properly heal, and in some cases the patient may never walk properly again. Mamm is looking at two sizeable civil payouts to both this family and the Uber driver. If he gets anything less than 10 weeks I'll be surprised.

And if they go with that they wonder why they haven't won a comp in 18 years.

The off-field standards in that joint are dead-set embarrassing.

I would have thought after a few minor incidents Bali they would have been told to pull there heads before the Awards night by a few of the players and admin at the club the moment they rocked back into Australia.

Instead Mam rocked up like he was going to an Usher concert in Vegas.

I assume there waiting for the charges and the 2nd drug test to come through.

Because the more you look at the footage of the incident he may have been 2-3 seconds or inches away from a tragic incident like Payne Haas's mother caused a few years back it's indefensible.

But we shouldn't be surprised its the same scum of a club that went into bat for Matt Lodge to come back into the game and they got duly rewarded with a deserved wooden spoon for it.

I think Moses being only offered $1.5m a season is probably underestimating the price he could command then to be fair.

I think it’s at least possible he will still be worth top dollar at 32. It depends on his injury history between now and then.
